Are Toyota Hiluxes as durable as Top Gear says they are? I get into some car wrecks, pull 30,000lbs uphill in 769th gear, and perform a few more mild tests. #hilux

Omfg, Tacoma is an american vehicle. NOT A HILUX! The Hilux is still being produced to this day and is the no 1 selling vehicle in Australia and has been for years. Only reason they don't sell them in America is because it would ruin all the competition. In saying that, todays Hilux's would definitey not hold up, too complex and fragile.
@priyanthadissanayaka39222 жыл бұрын
Dude, Hilux is still being produced. I dunno bout how tough the latest ones r but I've got a 2006 Vigo which is the domestic thai model nd that thing can run without oil or coolant. Hilux is so crazy because it was massively overbuilt. Toyota made it as a loss leader to edge into the truck market. The looked at all the other trucks in their class, and purposefully went WAY over competitor's specs for the same price. and it worked! the Hilux (and its variants) were so legendary that the brand got overnight recognition and Toyota used that sell normal cars. that's why every other Toyota, including later model Hilux, Tacoma, and 4Runners are NOT this overbuilt.

Honestly #1 made me unsubscribe, #2 has me back again. This is one of the best durability tests of the Hilux ever. I want to see him subject other trucks to the same test protocol.

Why can’t vehicles be as simple and reliable as this Hilux

Because then the car companies won't be able to sell you one every few years, because you're still driving the old car without any problems. 🤣 And also environmental regulations.

No one will ever question this truck again. I was literally taken back when this thing bounced through the mud with a pallet of bricks, then you loaded it with a gooseneck so heavy it bent the bed in and still didn’t budge. The real monstermax
@pr3modeling2392 жыл бұрын
I still cannot believe that thing went through the mud like that with that pallet in it. Find any other truck on earth that would do that... I ain't even gonna lie. If you actually cared for the thing at all it would last you the rest of your life, probably.
