Baby Bunnies leave the nest

went over these lucky ones with a mower before I noticed and covered in grass clippings to avoid predators. Adorable to no end. There were 6 in there, in the photo at the beginning. I was only lucky enough to catch 3 of them leaving on camera. 2 from 300ft away and 1 adorable little one from half a foot away. I only put 2 leaving here.

They’re just delightful. And these ones have very pretty colour patterns 🥺🥺. I envy people that live so close to nature and view wild animals first hand. Sure, sometimes it can also be dangerous. But this is such a blessing to witness.

its crazy that they can care for themselves when that young. I wonder if they ever run into their mothers anymore? They probably do tbh. We had some baby rabbits in our yard and it seems like they were gone in an instant.

I agree. I see the babies hanging out here and there, never a big one around. Definitely seem to be truly on their own.

Found a nest today myself. I'll keep an eye on it and try and keep mowers and predators away. Amazing how they do these just right out in the open!

I was also amazed how no cats found it. we've got a few stray cats. Seems like they don't give off much scent. I was really amazed by the whole thing.

The one I've found it seems to be dug really deep, which is strange for a cottontail. They all seem to be really shallow...or maybe it's because the kits are so small?

So does the mother come to uncover the nest and instead of feeding them, just leave it open for them?

Get so tired of the term "baby bunnies". The are a pest animal and are the major food source for untold numbers of other animals around the world. And that includes humans. Fried rabbit is delicious.

I agree with you rabbits taste good and can be pests. But "baby bunnies" though, that literally has nothing to do with them being pests
