Ave Maria isn't a sad song. It's a beautiful prayer that's very important in the Catholic church. The first part recounts the Angel Gabriel greeting the Blessed Virgin Mary on the day of the Annunciation. The middle recounts St. Elizabeth greeting Mary, both pregnant (Elizabeth with John the Baptist, Mary with Jesus of course. Jesus leaps for joy in Mary's womb during the greeting. A violinist visited our 3rd grade class back in the early 70s. Her playing touched everything an 8 year old has of longing and pathos. I was in tears. Those were some of the sweetest I've ever wept. To this day, stringed instruments still affect me this way. Music is primal.

This young man is gifted emotionally, spiritually, & intellectually! I watched some of your other videos where i couldnt comment. You asked your 4 yo son why he started crying when he heard a song. In my opinion, opera stirs emotions within him. It's like he is deeply touched. I don't think he is upset or that he doesnt like it. I think its a deeper emotional connection to that type of singing. Ive seen it in other babies with certain music.

I believe he could sense the emotional tone of the song. He knew it's not meant to be something that you just smile and go along with. It is something to be emotionally connected with. Like he knew what the tone was supposed to convey to the listener. Music resonates with us all at an early age. Tone can say more than what you hear on the surface.
