Baby goat zapped by electric fence

Even though this looks cruel it's not...in fact it's necessary to ensure the goats safety he must learn about boundaries. A small pop from the electric fence encourages all goats to maintain a boundary and stay within it. After 1 or 2 zapps they figure it out.

That’s a pretty gentle fence compared to the one my neighbor had. They had gone out of town and had someone coming to feed their horses. But we had a terrible storm and the feeders couldn’t make it due to tree damage. So I was asked (I was around 10-11 yrs old) to run over and feed. The stud was in the heavily e-wired back paddock-trees down everywhere but on the fence thankfully. I reached in to pet him and electricity arced up about 4 inches like a blue lightning bolt and got my hand. Put me right on the ground. I still have the scar 40 yrs later on my palm from the burn. Learnt that lesson!!!

Awe that's sweet, he's perfectly fine and is a fast learner, he hasn't made that mistake again since, I hope that eases your mind 😊

I was once on a horse and he touched his nose off the electric fence and he charged away and of course I fell off

Yeah, if you have the right kind of electric fence it doesn't really hurt at all, when I had goats I had one doe that regularly licked the wire I had along the top of my fence (it was to keep the dogs out, not the goats in and she was actually the only one big enough to even reach it). Every time it would shock her tongue and every time she would act all indignant that it dared do such a thing. I also regularly got zapped by it and other than the unexpected jolt it really didn't hurt and never even left a mark.

Most electronic fences are not even that powerful. As dares, we (as kids) used to see how long you could hold on to one. It's more the initial shock scares you or livestock making them avoid it.,

It scared him more than anything else, if you've ever been zapped, and I have, it's uncomfortable, n scary, but only for a second or two, then quickly forgotten

I was maybe 11 years old when a couple neighborhood kids and I climbed a pasture fence to hang out in the field. The farmer came out and hollered at us as he was turning his herd of cows out. We scrambled out of there and I got the crotch of my jeans caught on the barbed wire, not knowing it was electrified. Scared me more than anything but definitely unpleasant 😅

to the animals the electric fence is the equivalent of a lovecraft monster: it stays there seeminly calm and with no discernible purpouse, but when touched, a misterious force beyond your understanding smashes you with more strength that any fang, claw or horn would do....

Many years ago, one night i was helping a friend round up a couple horses that got out. Afterwards i felt the need to relieve myself. Not realizing i was about to pee on an electric fence i let it fly. Suddenly SNAP!!! It was like a lightning bolt to the tip of the penis. 😭😭😭

I'm pretty certain it's a regular positive fence. It works well for us because we live in a humid woody forest area with wet/damp soil and grass.

You do realize if the wire touches the ground it grounds out and a struggling kid goat would easily pull this fence down. He might get tangled, but shocked for hours?? Not at all likely!
