Basically the play is how they develop social ques and recognize how to appropriately act and treat other members of the species. It's honestly the same thing we do in humans and similarly if a human grows up without human interaction they often end up aggressive towards others due to fear and not understanding social ques. The only difference really is how incredibly strong apes are compared to humans which can make the play look rough in comparison.
@12801270able
@12801270able 19 күн бұрын
Humans are great apes, too. And furthermore, it's a myth that "apes" are incredibly strong compared to humans, barring gorillas. Chimpanzees are only stronger pound for pound. When you adjust it for absolute strength, adult male chimpanzees are as strong as adult human men, and the former does calisthenics all the time.

Hell, even if I'M isolated from people for a while (no way to leave the house, parents and other family members out of town, etc.) I tend to get a bit more aggressive and feral. Human interaction is crucial for human development, and it remains important for the rest of our lives.

Not the same age, wrong, having large groups of equal aged mammals interacting with each other doesn't happen naturally in the wild, similar ages a bit, but generally the age groups very broadly, mother, father, aunts, uncles, grandparents, cousins. The only time you get that are in schools of fish, birds, or bugs, things with a relatively short lifespan that procreates all at the same time and or place to ensure a chances of finding a mate, oh sea turtles too but it's temporary, they leave, they also have a longer life though.

Do you Know gorillas shouldn't live in a zoo

Do you know that like most other primates besides humans ,Gorillas and Chimpanzees are critically endangered species because of their widespread slaughter for bushmeat by poachers,trophy hunters and land clearing by palm oil farmers? Not to mention deaths from pollution and contagious illnesses from nearby human dwellings. Zoo and wildlife sanctuary protective breeding programs are basically their last and best chance at avoiding extinction. Not someday,but now.

SO sad and so many zoos have such tiny, sterile enclosures. No wonder the gorillas fight all the time in zoos.

Gorillas are absolutely fascinating. I wish they could all be free and thrive in the wild as nature intends.

Oh my gosh, these baby gorillas are having full-on zoomies! They remind me so much of the crazy bursts of energy my dog gets, like a case of the puppy zoomies! It's like a tiny engine just kicks in and they have to run, jump, spin - anything to burn off all that pent-up energy. Maybe it's a universal baby thing across the animal kingdom? Gotta get those wiggles out somehow!

The more I hear about animals being raised in make shift environments and the stress and anxiety they eventually go through, puts an interesting spin on why humans are the way they are.
