His story by the way is amazing. This was a reserve song that was not supposed even to compete, he got on stage by accident because contestant dropped out,, he had only 1 month to shoot a music video and make a performance , this was the first time he actually performed on stage as singer in front of a camera , he was ( just ) a guitarist before in the background,!!! He had 50 spotify listens for this before Eurovision, not assigned by any music company . he wrote , produced and made this song all by himself in his bedroom , He won Croatian final by a landslide , he got 53 % ot total votes. . I mean his story is jaw dropping and incredible and now, he is on top amongst the best to win the whole thing.

EVERYTHING you see on stage is inspired by Croatia, Croatian folk costume and dance, song lyrics. NOTHING to do with Kaarija, Poland, etc. The animals on display are part of the lyrics. He lives on a farm, that's why the animals are on display. If you read the lyrics it should be clear to you what he is singing about. He sings about how he leaves a small town for a bigger one in search of a better life. He says goodbye to his parents and cat. He hopes to be accepted wherever he comes. He says there's no going back and that's why he's having an anxiety attack. And yes, we hope he doesn't change the last part of the performance because that's the best part. We don't care if others see something in it that isn't there.

I feel like they didn't listen to the lyrics and don't know what they're singing about, because I found it funny comparing Poland and Ukraine. I can't imagine someone singing about village life and animals, without these same animals and depiction of village life not being part of the scenery, because someone already had those motives :D

- käärijä did not invented green light, but i get the point - sleeves are oversised version of sleeves worn in traditional folk outfit in istria region where he's from - it was his first time he performed as a singer. he is aworded songwriter in germany, and so far he was just a guitar player in a band. - the song has basicly bittersweet mesage - i'm leaving home for unknown future, but i will not cry, i'll be happy for you to remember me like that and for me to remember you like that - happy - he's THE IT guy for this year, and also no.1 for bookies - so far, this song is the only one that has made a lot of fuss, and this year there's no loreen to take the crown - as a croatian, i'm happy you like our song and our baby L. since we are very proud of him, as our votes have shown

It's just that Kaarija was last year, that's why people watching ESC will remember many details from his show and compare it to this. Like the green colour coupled with pink dancers, and it's those same colours coupled here. Also the movements of Baby Lasagna at the end of a song are very Kaarija style, and that final pose too. If it were a few years between their shows, no one would notice, but Kaarija was so recent.

They also had quite a lot of technical problems this year. It was filmed in two different studios at Croatian national television and they would go between studios. The sound was a big problem. The reason why quite a few artists sounded really bad is because their monitors were too loud and mic was too low in a mix. If someone turns the monitors too loud a singer will try to sing louder than he/she should and it all sounds bad. btw. This is only second time Baby Lasagna performed live as a singer. He has enough time to polish it. Also the song was done in his bedroom studio. His girlfriend did a video. It's literally "no budget" when you compare it to all the other artists who had whole teams. His brother was on the drums. His friend who studies in Italy did the clothes inspired by Croatian / Istrian ethnic clothes with rock elements.

The premise of this song is the story of a young man who leaves his village and goes to the city. His growup region and the village where he comes from is the semi-autobiographical Istra (the peninsula and region of the same name in Croatia). Since it is about leaving the village and going to the city, he symbolically sells his cow. Of course, like a bunch of other people, he is torn between going to the city where new adventures await him and nostalgia for his village. Everything else in the song is directly or figuratively connected to that main story.

I think you are wrong with compartments🙂 it's almost not possible to find a song that you can't compare in some ways to some other song. Maybe there is something but I don't believe that he would want to copy somebody, he is actually very creative and he made it everything himself lyrics, music, arrangements. It is interesting that the Croatian representatives at the Eurovision Song Contest are constantly compared to other songs, groups or individual singers... this year's songs almost all remind of some of the past ones, whether Eurovision or not... Italian? Spanish? Ukrainian? Czech song? Déjà vu... how much is 100% originality in music possible today? This year's Croatian song is the best Eurovision song and will surely get a large number of votes from the audience, but that will not bring it victory! Why? Because the national juries will mostly distribute points according to their sympathies: Scandinavians to Scandinavians, Eastern Europe to Eastern Europeans, etc... Ukraine will almost certainly win - and everybody knows why, even though that song is something that is cloned at least five times at every Eurovision Song Contest! The same thing will happen to Baby Lasagna as it did to the Finnish representative Käärijä last year! By far the best in the 2023 competition, but Sweden won - again we know why!...we won't even mention the complete ignoring of Let 3 by the national juries! However, the audience still had their say...

You don't understand that this has nothing to do with Kaarja. It is our Istrian traditional dance. Why is green not good, it is the best colour. My favourite colour. I live in Croatia and my country is very green.
