So important for the consolation and identity of the baby! Can still clearly recall being placed back down in a playpen while a tiny infant, while grandmother was in conversation with a neighbor...the distress& boredom of the abandonment when i could still hardly move...the stress of the little body with so much compact energy yet no ability to expend it yet...i tell you 30 minutes was a tortuous long time that cannot be articulated. There was very little loving touch. I never bonded with any family member except ...a great grandmother who would smile into my eyes while gently and firmly holding both cheeks in her hands...such a treasured memory! I still miss her so heartfully. A therapist later pointed out to me that my Oma was the reason i had not developed into criminal. Infants need loving touch to survive...and to grow into compassionate humans.❣️
