I don't know how many realize that this rendition is over 15 years old. A friend gave me a disk of mp3s back then and this was on it. At that time I had never heard of Alison Krauss, but I was blown away by her voice and this beautiful version. As many have said, she has the purest, smoothest, most velvety voice I've ever heard.

Disagree with your assessment entirely. The tempo of the original is pretty much the same, likewise slow, but different key. Perhaps it *seems* more upbeat because it has horns. Both versions are great. And I wouldn't call the lyrics "sad," since the singer's denial of the end implies the potential for domestic violence or stalking, like The Police's 'Every Move You Make.'

My mother sang for two decades in Cincinnati's renowned "May Festival Choir".. My father sang in St Mary's Choir for over forty years. Both parents were part of a select choral group performing the Verdi Requiem with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. My sister majored in music / theater at Ohio University. I have none of their talents, but I do recognize talent and ability. This woman has one of the purest, truest and in my opinion most enchanting voices I have ever heard. Just my opinion, but good lord...My issue is she exudes modesty, and that holds her back.
