You actually don't need a gynaecologist unless it's a complicated birth where baby head is not down first or the umbilical cord has surrounded the baby. Those days we never had a gynaecologist. It's a natural process that will happen without any assistance as the mother has to push the baby out. Just that the women has to undergo a labor pain without any Epidural which is very painful.

@Indian Government Examination you are at mistake this time yes cabin crew is there for passengers safety which includes both medical and other emergencies too I hope now there is no doubt you have, So cabin crew can help a female to delivary the baby , can provide CPR that is cardiopulmonary resuscitation, can save life of heart attack passengers , asthmatic passengers, heat stroke , heat exhaustion , true shock , insulin Coman, carbon monoxide poisoning can also act as a first aider by doing proper bandages like sprial ,simple spiral , can also help you to get recovery from any fracture by providing the associated badges , moroever simultaneously they can check your TPR +++++++ Adding on They are trained to act as rescuer like they are fire fighter , your life savior from ditching or clash landing or evacuating the aircraft within 60secs without thinking about their own life So I hope now your doubt is clear Whether doctor present on board or not it actually doesn't matter because they are trained for it . Moreover in this case if any baby deliver on board then it would be a normal delivery operational delivery doesn't happen on flights So the mom has to push and baby will come out from the womb with the natural process but after baby got deliver the clamping of the cord which connects mom and baby together which crew or dr need to cut by checking pulse blood flow if wrong cut then baby can die due to toxic shock so in this case this job cabin crew does So there is no point of having doctor on board or not it does makes a difference if doctor is present but if not present then no problem they are trained for it Adding on ++++++++ They are trained to follow all the regulations to maintain saftey of the aircraft by checking aircraft equipments which actually require a licensed like aircraft engineers so just imagine they are first aider , your life savior , has engineer like license , has ability to handle basterds by using self defense techniques if any situation demands to hand cuff a basterd on board they have all the authority to do so Moreover this situation doesn't happen so they try to diffuse the situation by their pleasent smile 😀 So being a cabin crew is like the wowwwwwww thing which sadly indians doesn't know about it So we can't change the mental set of people in India and this is very shameful .

So i m a doctor and i had been in anticipation since i heard of this news , that how did they deliver the baby. Knowing there was a gynaecologist on board , it still is commendable because if people don’t know this .. delivering a normal baby also requires skills while cord stump and cut. I m sure she wasn’t equipped . Secondly working in such a small space is beyond challenging. Kudos to this Dr. Shailaja I wish people spoke about her too.

Nowadays the indigo staff in domestic airline is the best.... as a frequent flyer I make my statement.... especially post lockdown when most staff is new and airlines like Vistara, Spice Jet are hiring unsocial & rude staff, Indigo has taken a 460° turn........ I can't begin to explain how much Indigo continues to impress me with passing time. I had an emergency on the flight too and the staff helped me through it. I am so thankful to the airhostess who took care of me through the flight and a woman who comforted me as I sat beside her on the journey. Now this. Indigo really has my heart!

All the cabin crew are trained first aider heads off to their skills , everything is avaliable on flight and cabin crew are trained to deal such kind of situations even without the doctor However All cabin crew and with the assitance of the doctor did great job done 👍 This is the extremely positive vibe which shows hope to the world So please don't comment anything negative when you don't have full knowledge . Women till 36 weeks of pregnancy are allowed to travel ...given that they should carry fit to fly certificate from the gynaec (permission) and should have single featus without complications..cabin crews from all over the world airlines are trained to deliver the baby onboard ..it is part of their training and it has happened in several other airlines like Oman air too where crew has delivered the baby even without assistance of the Dr.
