So sweet! Orangutans are my absolute favorite. They have their sweet kisses and curl up and cuddle time. I like their ornery side they're hilarious! They've always got to have their faces right up into someone else's face to study it and play with it. They're so human like it's fun to watch how they master a characteristic that we share. Each one has a unique human like characteristic but not the whole package or they WOULD BE US! 🐵💞🐒

Yes, sometimes they seem to be incredibily human but sometimes they are not. A human mother would have reacted differently than Hujan's mother did, for example.

There are amazing news, Hujan is now united with the group: he was kind of adopted by his grandmother, who now cares for her daughter and him, so now he's got a whale of a time with his family, after he had a whale of a time with Eva, which is really amazing, because in the wild he wouldn't have survived.

Yes, Hujan moved to UK before the fire came. Two chimps survived the fire and live in the gorilla installation, which is big enough to now have a chimp area for both. The house could not be repaired. Krefeld Zoo will build a much bigger Conservation Center for Primates including brand new installations for chimpanzees and orangutans and an update for the Gorilla Garden. I’m in love with this channel. The caregivers are amazing people - like this wonderful lady who oozes care and competence. You can see her deep affection for her young charge in her eyes. I just wish there wasn’t any music in these videos. I’d much prefer the quiet or the soft sounds of the babies. I find the music really ruins the enjoyment.
@zoosmedia3 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot for your comment. The music is an issue for sure - some like it some don't like it. We experience the majority of visitors enjoying the music but there's another reason why we prefer the music: if we aim to have the live baby noises only on the audio, it would require everyone else to stay silent in the background. This would prevent the caretakers to communicate and caring for other animals during this time. So, we decided to make it easier for everyone.

Well, if you are an educated zoo keeper you might one get the chance to care for baby orangutans - but this is not a job of its own. Raising baby orangutans by hand is nothing that is planned or regularily done in zoological gardens. It's pretty rare.
@j4gw33d Жыл бұрын
@@zoosmedia so true. Thank you for the thoughtful reply; I realize that having to care for a baby orangutan in a situation like this isn’t something that should ever be desired as it is rarely a good reason as to why these baby orangutans require such care. I’ve considered zoo keeping/veterinary science as a job in general as zoo or sanctuary upkeep, with the proximity to such animals, would be enough for me. Oh, good, you do speak English. :) In future videos, PLEASE, for the love of all that's holy, remove the music!!!!! There is nothing like hearing the sounds a baby ape makes when he's just sitting there eating, teething and chewing on his fist, or even when he's angry at having to get his nappy changed. I don't know why every zoo on the planet does it, but you guys think unless you have this hideously-ridiculous childish music playing over top of the videos of the babies whilst they're eating, then we're not going to like them, and that couldn't be further from the truth! The Wilhelma zoo put out a series of videos when they got gorilla Tano after Bikira rejected him. They were of him after hours in the nursery getting fed, getting changed, getting bathed, one of him sleeping and having a dream, and another just of him staring into the camera chewing on his fist because he was teething, and they are still some of the highest-viewed videos on YT. I'd always heard gorillas would make this growling sound like a dog, but because I can't visit a zoo nursery, and no one else puts out videos of their natural sounds, I never knew if this was true until the Tano video. He got mad one day because his caregiver wouldn't put him down and he let 'er rip and growled like a German Shepard. It was awesome to hear! Then the Pittsburgh Zoo put out a series of 11 videos of one of their males growing up with caregivers, and we got to hear his temper tantrums, and even his belly laughs when they tickled him one day. The public never gets to go behind the scenes into the zoo nurseries, which means we NEVER get to hear the baby sounds they make, and we want to! They're WILDlife, but we never get to hear their wild sounds. So please, in your next videos, just relax and let us HEAR these baby great apes, without the childish music. Thank-you! :)
@zoosmedia7 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your comment. 😊 Some viewers really like the music and some don't. We will see how we find a good compromise for the next videos. The music we use is from the KZbin library and but of course, we use music most people would enjoy listening to, but you can be sure you didn't miss an interesting sound Hujan made. If there would be one, we would let everybody hear it, without disturbing music. Thank you for these awesome video suggestions concerning Wilhelma and Pittsburgh Zoo.

zoos.media so the mother did not end up dying only sick? Is that correct?
@zoosmedia7 жыл бұрын
Luckily the mother could be saved by the great team of veterinarians and caretakers. So she's alive, but during the sickness, she wasn't able to care for her baby. When she was healthy she showed no interest in the baby, which is a common and evolutionary important behavior from the wild. Scientists observe in many mammals, that mothers quickly forget the baby after they lose it and even try to get pregnant again in order to preserve the species, which is massively important for wild animals. So she's not really interested in him, but that's okay - both survived and that's important. When both get reunited in a few months this will cause no problems for both.

Kann man Orang-Utans als Haustiere halten.
@zoosmedia7 жыл бұрын
Nein.
@uh73857 жыл бұрын
Sumatra. 🙈
@zoosmedia7 жыл бұрын
@uh73857 жыл бұрын
@zoos.media: Ja, okay.
@zoosmedia7 жыл бұрын
