Baby Stroller Wheel Upgrades

Parent's on the go understand the need for a compact baby stroller. There are tons of folding stroller options out there but most have cheap quality wheels that are a pain to push under the weight of a growing child. This is especially true on rough terrain. Our strollers' wheels had begun to stick, shimmy, and wander all over the place during walks. Something needed to be done so this video outlines how I replaced the flimsy, foam/plastic, wheels with smooth rolling, sealed, ball bearing wheels.

Where did you get the wheels? Does this work well on streets and bumpy areas

I found the wheels on Amazon. The rears were almost the same diameter as the original wheels and are common on scooters. The front casters are Atomdoc brand and are a bit smaller but they still work well over bumps. Atom

Bro, you could have done some work on someone's car e.g. for half the work and used the money to buy a good stroller. Nice work though. I don't know what it is with stroller designers/engineers, the front wheels always suck bad. You know when you hit that rock, or crack, and the stroller comes to a hard stop. F'ing idiots can't take a clue from car/motorcycle, even Horse Carriage suspension? I am adding springs to the front wheels. The engineers don't even get that the front wheels should also be larger than the back wheels, ideally. This isn't a race car on a flat track doing quarter miles. LOL.

Thank you. This was just a cheap project that developed because I could, not necessarily because it makes financial sense. All of these portable folding strollers are the same junk. The wheels do suck and they are cheap for a reason. I do have a nicer one but it isnt nearly as compact. The original wheels wobbled, locked up, and didn't track straight.

@@PostRt Junk is exactly right. My stroller locks up on small rocks and cracks, it is pathetic. But, what's worse is when it locks, full stop, my baby girl's head flops forward, like whiplash. Then, she cries for like 15+ minutes. The other day, it happened about 5-6 times and ruined her day. I was thinking of sending better designs to Graco, or something. Maybe start a new stroller company, LOL. Thanks.

i dont have a grinder, is this the only way to get those screws off?

It would take a bit longer but you could try using a basic hand file to cut the heads of those metal pin bolts off. If you have access to a drill, you could also try drilling the peened over end of the fastener enough to tap it out.

Put an add on CL, or similar. You can find someone to do it for $10.

The front wheels are 3 inches in diameter and the rear wheels are 4 inches in diameter.
