Dude this is the best way I've ever seen someone describe the trail. There's a reason we'll take any excuse we can to drive out there.

LOL, that's awesome! That drag must have screamed that day. Yeah, we have wanted to explore the backcountry more and get into the mangrove tunnels. Maybe another film someday. We have started collaborating with other fly fisherman on new films. I like being behind the camera just as much as pulling on the fish. Send me a message if you want to work on a film together someday.

Great vid! Fly fishing is the most unique of fishing.I've caught many Bass and perch on the fly with much excitement, I can onlyl imagine catching Tarpon or any other saltwater fish! The explosion of fish,wow! Great vid! Thumbs up!

What a great film! I hope there are more like this coming. I am watching it from the other side of the world, in Northern Australia

Thanks for checking us out Brian. We want to come film in Australia someday. Have you caught a Barramundi before?
@brianbarker16759 жыл бұрын
I have caught plenty of barramundi but not yet on fly- it has become my next goal in fishing. I have seen it done and dropped a few myself but never got one to the boat! Interestingly we get tarpon here too, in the same place as barramundi- they're always fun to catch on the fly but get overlooked due to their more popular neighbours. They never get as big as the Florida tarpon, the biggest I've caught is about 2 feet long, but I've heard they can get to 3 feet. I use an 8wt with an intermediate line for the barra, but think I could downgrade to a 5 or 6wt next time if I just want to catch tarpon.

Thanks Mike. Yep, catching a car is a guaranteed visit to the local fly shop for some new line.

great vid. My little brother and I love bridge hopping the Trail as well as 29...by the way, a Toyota will spool your 8wt...just sayin'...Anyways, you should add small kayaks to your arsenal for that area, just a little 10' kayak, and you can start to get back into some of those areas that you look at longingly from the guardrail.

I need to hit up the glades sometime soon. Did you use a gartside gurgler? Btw that was a nicely done video it captures everything.

What fly weight rod would you recommend? Im trying to get into fly fishing from spinning and live near the glades fish there all the time for bass and sometimes peacock. Just don't know what you'll recommend size size anything would be greatly appreciated. Great video keep em coming!
@SpooledReels9 жыл бұрын
+John Fields I would buy an 8 wt for your first rod. Go with the BVK from TFO. It is inexpensive in the world of fly fishing and cast like a rocket. They also have a great warranty if you accidentally break your rod. Pair it with a Redfish taper line and it will help you push the bigger flies you need for Bass. Post your first catch on fly on our Facebook page. We would love to see it. Good luck John!

It's great you guys enjoy the fishing but it sure doesn't need anymore publicity. Our sport has been ruined by all the film makers. Lets stop already
