I'm seventy-six years old. Among other weekly black and white TV shows Peter Gunn was one of my favorites. It was at the tail end of the film noir era that played in theaters. I loved it. Back then film and TV were often "about" the social issues of the day. It was usually commercial entertainment that expressed a point of view. There was very little technical enhancement available and pretty much everything was low budget. Therefore the quality of the scripts, the acting, the production all went into making a "good" show. PETER GUNN was a very good show. In the language of the day the Peter Gunn character was a 'hard boiled dick'.

This was clearly adult fare, but it was a favorite of mine, too.

once upon a time, TV was wholesome. families like mine would gather in the living room and watch TV together. shows for the whole family were on. and all of them were clean. the only drawback was if you were the closest to the TV , you were the TV remote.

I like her as well. I watched her punch some mobster in the face during a barroom brawl on one a couple weeks ago. I like the way she and Gunn sort of look out for each other too. - had to come back and correct this-> it's actually Minerva Urecal (the 2nd Mother) that hit the guy, but they're kind of interchangeable, and I wouldn't want to tangle with either

Pretty edgy for its day, when Pete threatens a guy with an execution. Even though he doesn’t go through with it, the way he convinces the guy he’s gonna die is pretty dark. Great acting, great writing, great show.

Everybody on this is cool, but Bernardi really steals the show sometimes. It's nice to see a show with a lawman figure who's not the main character, but often saves the day for him, rather than the other way around. Too many Sheriff Coffees and Micah Torrances on old shows that get themselves taken hostage and need to be rescued and crap. Jacoby will bust into some warehouse out of nowhere like Batman and start throwing guys across the room (or shoot them). I think I also like him cause he's a grouch. 😁

This guy gets conked on the head more than all three stooges put together. He even gets conked from the front on a bunch of them, where he should've seen the conker ahead of time. After watching a bunch of them, you can sort of feel it coming by the camera angles and where he's going or for what.
