Richard Biggs was almost completely deaf and had to learn his lines along with the other people's lines to be able to hit his marks.

It’s amazing that I hadn’t heard that until just recently. I guess I can forgive him for acting a bit overly loud sometimes under the circumstances. Really an amazing accomplishment, especially in scenes where his back is turned.

Casting Paul Winfield as General Franklin was brilliant. It’s not the greatest episode ever, but I absolutely love the way Winfield played off Richard Biggs in this episode.

B5 does not shy away from showing what war does. Christopher Franke's music is invariably good in B5. He knows how to pull the heart strings. Be seeing you!

I remember this one. Upgrades for the station and emotions for the cast. 25,000 people... that's a lot of military personnel to suddenly house and feed without any heads up. A Doctor is an interesting career path for a general's son. "I think someone in Earthdome has gone completely mental." What makes you say that, Garibaldi? That they didn't tell you guys about an upcoming op you be using a diplomatic station to support, or that there was a secretly planned op of 25,000 infantry and 6 military ships? Rebel leaders. Hm. Well they couldn't displace any ambassadors to fit the ground pounders. Third doctorate? This family is a bunch of overachievers. Yeah, dear old dad is specist and has worrying ethics for a man of his rank. Nobody gets under the skin quite like family, but Doctor Franklin does have reason to be at odds with the ethics and goals of General Franklin. "We must learn to break those chains." Very true, Delenn, but we must not forget the past even while fighting to go beyond those bonds. Some people join the military so they have a legal excuse and opportunity to hurt people. Ditto for law enforcement. Ideally we'd weed those people out at the recruiting offices and job interviews, but sadly that doesn't happen enough. Add on prejudice blended with very real pain and trauma.... Thankfully there are always those who serve for good reasons. Even if they can be grossly outnumbered at times. She wants a fling, he wants a relationship. Neat seeing the station guy respond with a story we've seen. I will never work as a bouncer in a bar or casino, but especially not if a bunch of military people are on leave. War is a costly thing in the best of times, and with two of the major powers at war, this closing scene will become all too familiar for the galaxy.

Babylon doesn't sugar coat things, if it's an episode about war then it will be sad etc..

This one absolutely makes it hard to talk about the characters. First a second Franklin shows up, and then that character's first name is the same as the other character's actor's first name! It's a pretty good episode. A bit stand-alone and removed from the last one, but that ending hits nonetheless.

BBC being an absolute nightmare with (manual) copyright blocks. I couldn't deal with the stress anymore so unfortunately it's patreon exclusive for now. Currently watching S6.

@@ChosenOneReactions Another youtuber I follow has also had problems with those legal vultures. Seriously, it's insane how titchy and stingy copyright is, and the UK is even worse than the US.

This isn't a great episode, but I'm not sure if the placement helps or hurts it. On the one hand, it's a good idea to show the consequences of war being bloody and tragic in B5 just after a big episode where a war is declared. On the other though, it's a bit clunky and follows on from a brilliant episode which did more with a drink being given to someone than some shows manage with 30 minutes of SFX...
