"if the symmetry were any more perfect I should think that one of us would burst into tears" If Andreas Katsulas' delivery of that line were any more perfect... Wait, no. It couldn't be more perfect and it makes me want to break down into tears.

Londo: "This, by you, is well done?" Vir switches the cups. Conversation continues because noting out of ordinary happened. Such little character moments is why I love B5.

"That's the problem with things back home, people today have been CONNED into thinking they CANT change the world! That they have to ACCEPT 'what is'!" - About 30 years later, and it is even MORE true today! Also, I LOVE the "friendly antagonism" between Brother Theo & the Reverend (Malcom?)! It is just so . . . human.

I don't know what if any faith tradition JMS follows, but he tends to portray religious characters in a positive light, although episode like Infection and Confessions and Lamentations shows he understands the dangers of ideological purity. This is one of the reasons he's such a great story teller. I know you liked Jeffery, but I can't imagine him interacting with Delenn the way she did with John in the War Room. Whatever the reasons, switching Jeff for John did benefit the series.

Indeed. But I would have liked to see an atheist among the group as well (maybe a representative of some secular humanist society). And for all four of them (the three religions + the atheist) to mention that they have problems within their respective groups, since some of them are cooperating with Clark. I mean, that's what *would* happen. In many, perhaps most, wars in human history, both sides had the support of some religious leaders, sometimes even from the same religio (for instance, there were Christian clergy aiding and supporting both sides in the American Civil War, and in both World Wars)

There is an old spiritual by Gladys Stacey & Louise Cirtain called "No Hiding Place" that features the lines: "I ran to the rocks and hide my face the rock cried out 'No hiding place' there's no hiding place down here." Supposedly derived from Chapter 6 of Revelations, where the sinners try to hide amongst the rocks.

Always meant to go looking for where that came from, but never did so thanks for this. After a scene yet to come, and my top moment, G'kar's speech as he is forced to leave the council that is my all-time favorite B5 moment. kerk

I love the three clerics in this episode. I did get to meet Carmen Argenziano (the Rabbi) at a convention, too. The John/Delenn scene with "cranky" etc is such a gem, Bruce plays it well, but it is such a joy to see Mira play it out. Poor Vir. This time he is, indeed, the perfect tool for Londo's plan, and he hates it, of course. "The world is changing every day - the question is who is doing it?" I love this line.

Easily one of the best of Babylon 5 in that it touches upon so many strands within the story arc and all the while giving each of the cast excellent opportunity to shine brilliantly on screen; the denouement is astonishing and a delight in how cleverly it was written and portrayed.

I love how adding any kind of clock/timer/countdown instantly adds tension. It's like seeing the "3 Days Remain" message in Zelda: Majora's Mask the first time you play. Y'all will probably tire of me saying this but John and Delenn's romance is one of the best in TV/movie history. I remember being shocked by Londo's threat to Vir the first time I watched this; I couldn't recall him being that harsh with him before. Mean or disappointed but not that threatening.

"14 days to what?" With 2 episodes left in the season, aired weekly means 14 days till you will find out with the season finale. A few story arcs get a major boost in this episode- Sheridan/Delennes relationship , Londo's machinations, etc.
@mayra3277

Among the many amazing scenes in B5, Sheridan and Delenn's scene here stands out because it is so ordinary. Yes, it's about war and strategy. But mostly, it is about caring for each other - and the confusing of living among a different culture. Delenn is a highly relatable character if you're bilingual and living/working/... in a language that's not your native tongue! As convenient as universal translators as in Star Trek would be, they do take away lots of storytelling fun.

Good to see you at this episode, nearly at the end of Series 3 now - doesn't seem that long ago you were just getting used to Marcus showing up! I know JMS always planned his story as a 5 year arc, but I wish this show had gone on WAY longer, the writing, the characterization, everything was just SO much better than anything else at the time, or in my opinion - since! (That's not to say I don't like other shows, but B5 is best!)

Ah, the tragedy of Na'Thoth... Such a cool character. But then the first actress couldn't keep going due to an allergy or somesuch to the prostetics if I remember correctly. The replacement actress turned out... problematic. And thus the role pretty much died due to real-life issues. :(

*sits down with his bowl of Ice Cream* This gonna be good... one of Babylon 5's best. The Pak'Ma'Ra are actually a rather interesting race in the expanded lore, their actually really nice guys even if their eating habits make people run screaming. They are seen as lazy and unpleasent and slow by most of the other races... and i think they like being thought of that way.

Luke 19:39-40 Some of the Pharisees in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples!” And He answered and said unto them, “I tell you that if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” EDIT: Apparently, JMS said it was actually inspired by an old gospel song/spiritual that is a reference to Revelation 6:15-17, where people try to hide in caves, but there is no hiding from judgment. 😉 15 And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

One of the best episodes of B5. But I want to remind everyone not to miss a small plot detail... In the first season Londo was the underdog while G'kar was a warmonger hawk. Now the tables have turned. Too often good and evil are perspectives. And there are NO angels anywhere.

There was a small layer of complexity I missed. It would have been nice to have a non-believer among the clergy, as part of that group -- maybe from some humanist society. And for all of them to mention that they had run into difficulties within their own group -- that some church leaders (and their equivalents in other religions and among the humanists/atheists, of course) are cooperating with Clark, some out of fear, others because they genuinely accept the party line. I mean, that's what would realistically happen (think of some church leaders, including the Pope, colluding with fascist regimes in the 1930's and 1940's; or the fact that during many wars, including ideologically-driven ones like the American Civil War, both factions had the active support or blessing of religious leaders and communities).
