_Akatsuki daaaa!_ 🦊🤘🔥 You can hear in the first SuMetal scream the right way to pronounce this word without the "da" at the end, it reads something like "ah - kats - key", the u is silent. She performed this same song live at Budokan 2014 when having only 16 yo, and you can clearly noticed the difference between teenage SuMetal vs. grown up vocals and technique in this version, highly suggest you to check it out in your own time. Akatsuki was one of the highlights live at Budokan 2021 when celebrating their 10 Years, of course this SuMetal performance is one of those beautiful and powerful solo she had back then. The fight choreography is another tribute to early performance either when SuMetal was fighting against her doppelganger at one of the Legend "IDZ" in 2012/2013, or later in 2018 when the muscle-metal did the fight between them at Dark Night Carnival concert. When the music stop and switch to the ballad piano version is a tribute to Legend 1997 held in 2013 when performing Akatsuki Unfinished Version. Pretty much is a power/metal ballad song about fighting for her love. The crowd unfortunately was a prerecorded sound because this was made during pandemic situation and no one was allowed to shout or doing mosh pit, also the capacity was cut to half, everyone had a great time thou. This song is a tribute to another mythical visual-key Japanese band called X-Japan - Kurenai (i recommend you that song), and one of the founder member, Yoshiki, got also another tribute with the song Headbanger!! I would like to add that I HIGHLY recommend you check out and react to Akatsuki Unfinished. It's almost sounds like a completely different song and it shows a side of Su-Metal you rarely get to see. It is also a song that shows just how good she is at conveying emotion through her music. Even though she was only 16 when the Unfinished version was performed (she only performed it once as far as I know), it is still probably my favorite of all the versions as you can clearly see her singing it with an open heart and is full of emotion. In terms of pronunciation, think of it almost like a Polish or Ukranian last name so, AhKatSki.

Others may say there are better vocalists in the world. For me personally, this is the only one I would fall on my literal sword for and at less than half my age. The best thing that has happened to music in decades! Of course that is just an opinion. My Queen. ❤️🦊

I would have to agree. Although in terms of vocals, they keep improving more and more, she's certainly catching up to the best out there. I think in terms of female vocalists, there's really, in my personal opinion anyhow, only 1 female vocalist who probably surpasses Su's vocal by a bit, and that would be a Filipina named Morissette Amon. The thing with Mori though is that while she DOES do a wide range of musical genres, she doesn't do metal, closest being a bit of rock here and there. However, Mori also has better whistle notes than Mariah Carey I feel, by far, and has so many little things she does while she sings that it's hard not to love her vocal talents as well. If you haven't checked her out yet Victor, I'd highly recommend checking out Morissette Amon. I'd recommend I wanna know what love is MYX Live Performance, Never Enough on the Wish Bus, Could you be Messiah, Rise Up on the Wish bus. She has many others, but those are my personal favorites of hers. Then you'll have heard my 2 favorite female vocalists lol

I really don't get it that people thinking Budokan 14 was "the best". I can understand why some don't like 2021 version tho, but are they not acknowledge of any performance other than those two? Because every single performance after 2014, Su vocal performance was grown way way better.

Thanks again from Japan 有り難う💛。I defer to wise men in our fanbase, like Grington300, for detail explanation of this song. On Feb.19, 2021, Akatsuki became a very special song for BABYMETAL fans again. This song had not been performed for 2 years and 4 months, but they revived it that day. I witnessed it at Budokan, the legendary arena. After the silent interval in the middle of this performance, Su-Metal showed up like a goddess standing solely in the center of foggy lake. It was divine beauty. Honestly I can not remember clearly what I saw and what I heard because it was too surprising and too mesmerizing. (Even after I viewed Blu-ray videos released thereafter) There is one certain thing, however. I felt celestial bliss there, especially with Su's matured richer voice.

Great reaction! Akatsuki (akat-skee) is one of my favorites. I personally prefer the 2014 Budokan Black night version with the dueling harmonizing guitars instead of the Muscle Metal fight scene and Su-metal's most awesome death stare. This version of course has a more mature voice and a small piece of the unfinished version thrown in. You definitely need to check that out too. It is from the Legend 1997 show. Watch out for the onion cutting ninjas though. Kitsune up!

I think this one is superior. Su's vocals are much improved, and the audio quality is far superior to Budokan 2014. Whether the guitarists are stage for the guitar part or not doesn't really matter.

Nice 🦊👍 This is my favorite solo from SU, my second favorite is Amore, the note she makes at the end and the arrangement are just incredibly powerful, love the sudden silent section in this performance as well. All live versions from big to small venues, all music videos and audio from the studio versions are a must watch/listen so you can get the ultimate BABYMETAL experience lol.

Great suggestion, but unfortunately the official MV is heavily blocked so the best chance is either a live compilation around or the original clip live at Legend 1999, Budokan 2014 and Budokan 2021, the latter is another special version with dramatic theatrical but at least got better sound than the other two, Legend S 2017 of course is the perfect choice but again, is risky.🦊👍

Great reaction, thanks! First of all, this is my favorite song of all time alongside "Megitsune". And this is a very special song and moment with a great performance by Su-metal and the Kami Band. It's excellent and probably the best performance of "Akatsuki" technically. And maybe the last one as they don't perform solos or Black BABYMETAL songs anymore. Yes, this is a solo by Su-metal. She has four in total, two on each of their two first albums. The others are: "Rondo of Nightmare", "No rain no rainbow" and "Amore". Yui and Moa also had four songs as a duo without Su, a sub-unit called Black BABYMETAL. And they have also four songs: "Onedari Daisakusen", "Yon no uta", "GJ!" and "Sis. Anger". Song's name "Akatsuki" pronounced "akatski", being the u mostly silent in Japanese) (紅月 - ア カ ツ キ) is actually the contraction of "akai + tsuki" (meaning "red moon" or more specifically, crimson moon) and is clearly a tribute to the song "Kurenai" by X-Japan. The kanji "紅" can be also read as "kurenai" and means "crimson red" (credits to Du-Metal). Having said that, here are my concerns: I believe that the subtitles are distracting and you are missing things on a first time reaction (minor concern). The scene fight here also distracts from the glorious dueling and harmonizing guitar solo (not sure if you even noticed it). It's a reminiscence from early performances of the song and it doesn't add much if you don't know it. And finally and most relevant: this is a fan made compilation video and the visuals are from one single source but chopped and reorganized to avoid copyright ("Custom Footage", as he or she says). Not a fan of this video at all. If you want to experience the real greatness of their performance you need to check out an actual pro-shot from 2014 onwards. Until next time! 🤘🦊

i like this version with the choreographed fighting,but my favorite is from the fox festival 2017. it was a smaller venue,and su-metal was closer to the kami band. you also get to see the late mikio fujioka and the other guitarist (whose name slips my mind right now) do their solo trade offs in the middle of the song. there's also the "unfinished version" with just piano and keyboard. that one is very emotional. you can't go wrong with any version,really. it's such a great song.

Su-metal was fighting a clone during the guitar solos when they played Akatsuki at the "Legend Z" concert back in 2013. They made the entrance and exit of the body double so smooth. I think that was one of the coolest things they've done to date.

Great reaction. It is pronounced something like Ak-ats-kee ... the U is almost silent, like a glottal stop perhaps. Your first Su-metal solo I think and yes there are other versions and performances - this is the only version I recall with that sudden silence and the lights going out (I think they borrowed that from one of her other solos 'Amore'). In an early performance (Legend D perhaps but I think it was Legend Z) Su fought against someone dressed as her during the guitar break (she repeated this at Legend S for her 20th birthday in 2017). In this one you saw the two dancers who supported Su and Moa on the 2018 tour (their real names completely escape me for the moment, which is very rude of me - the fans affectionately named them Muscle Metal). They came back specially for these Budokan 2021 concerts to do their fight choreo again. In other performances the guitarists really do get the spotlight for the guitar break. There is another version that you really do need to see and react to - from the Legend 1997 concert (Su-metal's 16th birthday in December 2013) ... that is the 'Akatsuki Unfinished version' ... a one-off acoustic (just Su, piano and strings) version . Same song, same lyrics (apart from those last two lines), same melody - and a completely different feel (think of the difference between 'Monochrome' and the piano version).

@@thevictorone That's normally the one I watch. She only performed this version of this song one time, so you can't really go too wrong. It's mainly if you want the little intro thing which adds to the "flavor" or not. Personally, even though I can't understand what is being said, I like the graphics and even the graphics tells a bit of a story that adds to the ambiance.

Aahh, Akatsuki, one of my favorites! I love this performance, but I think Budokan 2014's Akatsuki by 16 y/o Su is better. She also did a piano version (unfinished version) during the Legend 1997 show (after Headbanger, and before Babymetal Death). Think of this one as an "early version" of Monochrome first take. Amore is another epic Su Solo, similar to Akatsuki. No Rain, No Rainbow and Tamishii No Refrain are great Su Solos as well. Lastly, Rondo of Nightmare (with Kami Intro), at Budokan 2014 is an epic Su Solo preceded by an epic Kami Band intro. Also, for fun, I really loved early Yui's Chokoto love cover, which is Yui's solo. Moa did one as well, I belive it's called Love Machine. For the Fox God channel should have all of the songs mentioned above, and I'm pretty certain they all have subs and are of excellent quality. Enjoy! 🤘🦊🤘🦊

Well, with 5 versions to pick from, it was a bit of a crap shoot, I'm afraid you rolled snake eyes. Not that we don't luv averything Su-Metal does, but the injection of "Muscle Metal" brings back painful memories of a time (long ago and far away) when BabyMetal lost their way. FYI, when you see anything w/ the tag Black/Nite, Red/Nite (or Legend of 1997), pick that one. We, the One, seem to wax nostalgic for the Early (Happy) time (I miss you Yui, where ever you are) and revel in the newer stuff as babyMetal evoles and continues to delite. And would maybe like to forget some of the stuff in between. BTW, the Black Nite version of Akatsuki contains one of the most iconic moments in BabyMetal's history, a soring guitar (duo/solo?) that punctuates Su's Queenly performance. One of the performances that would be on the pedestal with Rondo Of Nightmare and Road of Resistence

i kinda agree and understand why it's a bit jarring, perhaps it's due to the duration of the gap. that being said, i feel that this gap is really important for the dramatized effect for the remaining phrase of the song. legit i had multiple goosebumps first time i heard it and shed a tear (again!) the second time i hear it just like the first time i hear akatsuki unfinished version. altho it's tough choice, in the end i pick this performance as my favourite due to that gap, and the overall performance of the remaining of the song. it's really a modern, mature, refreshing, and honestly, more beautiful rendition of akatsuki. it really showcased Su as this Knight in the cape that fights until the end with a fierce spirit.
