Directed by Shimon Tanaka, shooting for the video was completed by October 2011. According to SU Metal, Tanaka had wanted to appear in the video, but found the choreography difficult to execute. The video was posted on the official Babymetal channel over a year later, on November 8, 2012. So Su Metal at this point in time is 13 years old (14 if ignore birthday) while both Moa Metal & Yui Metal are 12 years old. The song premiered at the Sakura Gakuin concert Sakura Gakuin Festival ☆ 2010 at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1 on November 28, 2010. If you watch their major concert shows, you can see that they still use the skeleton outfits even now, but they only serve as ushers. Kobametal has his own special skeleton costume where the spine suddenly twists around to the back like it's been broken.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 💓 ⏰ Pretty much everything that followed was because this unexpectedly blew up. Their original budget was so small that Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers. Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow Sakura Gakuin student Raura. This song covers all of those traditional Heavy Metal themes, like waking up excited for a new day at school, and deciding on your lip gloss and cute hairstyle for the day. : ) There were other sub-units besides BABYMETAL at Sakura Gakuin that had more resources for costumes and video production, like the Twinklestars (Baton Club) that Yui and Moa were also a part of. But even with a shoestring budget, this video is the one that blew up on social media. 'Doki Doki ☆ Morning' is still a huge hit with fans when they play it live. It reminds us how far they've come. Su was 12, and Yui and Moa were 11 when this song was recorded. Su was 13 when the DVD single and the first version of this music video was released. Yui and Moa were 12.

Nice reaction, thanks! This was their first song, music video, single, etc. Let's say all started with this song so we are here today. Very low budget here: borrowed costumes for the girls and "babybones" costumes made with white tape... even the girls were so proud they teach them the dance moves. I totally agree about their attitude, costumes and so. Actually, I would feel uncomfortable otherwise. You really hit the nail on its head with this comment... "...there is no sexualization here and they were not pretending to be adults..." With Babymetal, I'm truly thankful that cute little girls were made as front acts for a heavy metal group without exploiting their sexuality. The girls were left to act exactly like their age and instead, the narrative was focused on how insanely talented the girls are, especially Su-metal, and how ungodly skilled musicians the supporting band was/is. Babymetal is so unique and refreshing in oh-so many ways.
