Far as I'm concerned, the best part is how they came from that demon summoning magic circle, and that's where they disappeared to, in the end. A ringing endorsement of: "it doesn't matter how cute it is, it can probably still devour your soul"

Hi Brayzee! Apologies for the "wall of text", but you asked a lot of good questions. Some folks seem to think BABYMETAL were put together by a huge corporation as a cash grab. Which is a little strange. Metal is still kind of a niche genre. Even more so in Japan. While their parent corporation (Amuse, Inc.) is a big company, BABYMETAL started as a sub-unit (the Heavy Music Club) of Sakura Gakuin, a girls school themed Idol group. Sakura Gakuin is not a big budget project. It provides a place for the members to develop skills in singing, dancing, public speaking, etc. at an age where there are not a lot of jobs. Starting a combination Jpop/Idol and Metal group out of this is about the last thing you would put together is your goal was to cash in. Doki Doki ☆ Morning was BABYMETAL's first single and first music video (released in 2011). The video budget was tiny. Su's coat was borrowed from one of the Sakura Gakuin teachers. Moa's vest was borrowed from Yui, and Yui borrowed hers from fellow student Raura. Somehow this unlikely combination worked, the video started to be shared on social media and it slowly started to blow up. The best English translations are on Du-metals blog site. Here's his page for Doki Doki ☆ Morning: du-metal.blogspot.com/2013/07/doki-doki-morning.html

For a moment I thought this is a great explanation and it is, but I think it's important to mention: the producer was trying to find a project for Suzuka (Su-metal, main vocalist), as a metal head he had probably been playing with the idea of doing something with idols and metal music. But she sings with such power that metal was a great fit for her.

Rick Wagner knows more about this group than anyone on the planet , ( good job explaining Rick ) . One other point to mention is that the girls were only 10 and 12 years old when this group was formed . They are now 17 and 19 . All Babymetal songs are good especially live . Great reaction , hope to see more .

Their lyric content tends to be about some mundane things made a bit exciting. Doki Doki Morning is about the rush to get ready for school in the morning, with a bit of hope about the oncoming day & the future in general (Doki-Doki=Exciting, hurry-hurry). They don't write their own songs (with one exception - 4 no uta), which isn't that unusual in music anyway. The lyrics tend to sometimes mix Japanese slang/everyday usage with English, along with some nonsense syllables (see Gimme Chocolate!) Other song content includes - Bubble gum (Awadama Fever), going to your first concert when you've turned 15 (Headbangyaa!), getting your dad to pay for things & give you money (Onedari Daisakusen), playing kids games (Catch Me If You Can), going to a slumber party with friends (Uki Uki Midnight), the role of women in Japanese society (Megitsune), bullying (Ijime, Dame, Zettai), and fan unity (The One). It's pretty diversified, and if you need lyrics & translations to specific songs, I'd be happy to post some. You should check out Karate if you haven't already. Finally, if you think you'd like to learn Japanese, and you want to learn using BabyMetal as a gateway, might I suggest Duane Metal? kzbin.info/door/eeYFENBJY0_aTEa1r-FjMAvideos He's a rabid metal & BabyMetal fan, and also a Japanese linguist. BTW, welcome to the BabyMetal rabbit hole:)

Again, I haven't seen such a perfect reaction video of Babymetal in such a long time. Nice green screen background of Babymetal....nice big video of the Music Video in the video lol...and your open-mindedness....the best of all PERFECT AUDIO NOT BLOCKED OR REMOVED! Lol If you keep making much more reaction videos of Babymetal (Official Videos and a bunch of different live performances of the songs) then you've got yourself a new subscriber in me 😊

Great reaction, Brayzee. I especially like how you talk a bit about what you liked and why; many other reaction channels just react during the song and then go "Hope you liked the reaction, bye!" For me, reactions to Babymetal are all about what goes on in the person's mind during and after the performance. So I'm glad you add your thoughts into the mix afterwards. I will just leave you with this: There is so much Babymetal stuff to react to, but it doesn't *really* matter what order you do them in; the fact is, the more you learn about them, the more you'll love them, so any order will work for you. Babymetal has constantly surprised us fans for years now. So much variety, so much energy, so much talent and hard work, so much fun. You'll be constantly surprised. And yes, they get cuter in every video, regardless of which order you watch them. lol :-D

You definitely need to jump down the Sakura Gakuin rabbit hole. It does bring into perspective exactly why the girls are so incredibly professional at such an early age. My two favorite songs are "Song for Smiling" and "Heart no Hoshi" (without Sue-metal as she had already graduated.) All the episodes of their TV show are available to see also and are really super cute. And lastly, watch the video of Moa's speech at Sue's graduation....word of warning....bring lots of tissue....if you don't cry watching this, you have a heart of stone.

Personally, I like the clear singing better than the metal growling. Some say: it's foreign you can't hear a word they are saying, but can you understand the words they are growling without looking up the lyrics ? So what is the difference ? :-)
@Brayzee7 жыл бұрын
I remember listening to Suicide Silence, I couldn't understand a thing they were saying besides them telling everything to give the middle finger. Other than that I couldn't. I still liked it though. :P These girls though, I don't know what they are saying, but MAN they keep you so into the song. The beats, the way they sing, it really gets you pumped.
@autohmae7 жыл бұрын
Well, this song doesn't have any deep lyrics. They were new to metal and still very young. Ever since Ijime, Dame, Zettai they've added deeper meanings to their lyrics. A lot of metal music can be used to vent frustration, which is a positive effect but in a negative form. Babymetal does not just 'innovate' by bringing a new sound and appearance or dancing to metal scene. But they brings positive messages to the metal scene.

That is why I mainly like Heavy Metal bands if they have female vocals, like Within Temptation or Babymetal. Do not like screaming or harsh voices, and only time I do not mind growling is in some beauty and the beast vocals.

Worried that copyright cops will block your terrific videos. Suggest you listen on headphones and give us the link for the audio and do a 3-2-1 countdown.
@robharwood35387 жыл бұрын
I second this suggestion. Unfortunately Japanese music companies tend to be very strict about copyright. But almost always it's the audio, not the video. So if you play the video muted, and provide a link to the original video in your video description, then count down 3,2,1,go! everyone can sync up with your video. Unfortunately, mobile viewers will have a much harder time with this. The only viable alternative is to significantly modify (such as changing the pitch) or distort the audio in some way. Perhaps you could get away with it at very low volume, I don't know. But muting the audio is the absolute safest way to avoid copyright strikes.
@Brayzee7 жыл бұрын
Oh man, I would hate to do that, because then I feel like I"m cheating out the system. Hopefully that doesn't happen. If it does I will reupload with muted sound and make sure it stays not monetized so I don't get anything (because without audio of the music it wouldn't register as copyright) and it would make me feel bad to cheat the system with all that. Because, with each view on this video it earns them money. They have full monetized the videos, which means any money it would have earned goes directly to the copyright holders. Which is like 3 different ones.
@Singulitarian7 жыл бұрын
That's the opposite of cheating the system. When we watch in two windows, you get your views and BABYMETAL gets there's. Everyone wins except those on mobile devices.
