BABYMETAL is the smartest, most sincere, and most Japanese identity lady.

It's a smoke machine. They just hooked it up to a hose. Smoke machine uses dry ice (frozen carbondioxide). Looks cool, you don't see it used quite in that way. Legend of 1997 was the concert. The song is Headbanger. So if you see a recommendation for Legend of 1997 it's just a song from that concert. It's one of the few that is on youtube and used to be safe to react to up until a couple months ago. It was for Su's 16th birthday and was Dec 21 2013 a day after. They did her 20th birthday in her home city of Hiroshima. That was Legend S Baptism XX.

If you like audience participation, you should watch the Road of Resistance video called "BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL)". A sold out venue with 20k people singing along, crowd surfing and a crazy mosh pit vortex that seems to go on for most of the song. Also, one of the greatest things I've seen is when Babymetal performed with Rob Halford (from Judas Priest), doing Painkiller and Breaking the Law at Alternative Press Music Awards 2016. He's turning 70 this year and is still metal as f**k!

Was so happy to experience this live when they started to perform it again . Everyone was bowing to Su except for bald bloke in front of me so he kept getting top of his head patted / slapped every time i bowed . Thats what happens when you dont show homage to the Queen 🤣🤘🦊🤘❤

Good reaction. The statue at the back played a part in the show as a whole which pretty much tells the story of Babymetal's transition from sub-unit of an Idol group to independent metal band, but more importantly Su's transition from Jpop Idol Suzuka Nakamoto, giving up that life and existence to be reborn as the metal Goddess Su-metal. You would have to watch the whole show (or at least the first song and the last two or three songs of the show) to really get what was going on and the part the statue plays in it. The first song is a theatrical piece to Schubert's 'Ave Maria' followed by a dance remix of 'Headbanger'. The last two songs, after this full version of 'Headbanger', were 'Akatsuki' (unfinished version) and 'BABYMETAL Death'.

In this instance I don't think there is a literal meaning or a specific reference or tribute being paid or whatever behind the puppet-like movements. ⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 I was thrilled when they brought 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' back during the 2019 tour, and I was finally able to see it live at the LA Forum concert. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the single and video were released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could probably relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than attending concerts like the girl in the song. : ) There's a fair amount of complicated wordplay in the song, like "ichigo" meaning "15" (1+5), "strawberry", and "once in a lifetime", but essentially it's about the ephemeral nature of youth. The music video is definitely worth while. It would be great to see a reaction to it. There are really only a handful of BABYMETAL music videos with stories, rather than just concert footage.

It's a fairly common trope for metal bands to use church bells and organ in their intros. Especially for the more Black Metal bands who like to mock Christianity.

I don't really think they are trying to mock Christianity in their act and that's a stupid, pathetic thing for bands to do. Their lyrics certainly don't sound anti-Christian. The "dark" elements of their act center on Japanese spiritualism, not Christianity/Satanism.

This particular performance has rarely been blocked, so it's unlikely you get a copyright claim. Usually all the performances from their concert Legend 1997 in 2013 and from the Budokan in 2014 are pretty safe to react to. The other safe ones are the Festival performances, such as "Ijime, Dame, Zettai" at Sonisphere 2014, "Karate" at Download 2016 that you already did, and "Distortion" at Download 2018. Any other more recent live performance needs some work on it :D Lately also their official videos of "Megitsune", "Karate", "Gimme Chocolate" and "Road of Resistance" live in Japan are no longer safe :) The statue on the background is kinda a statue of the Virgin Mary and at the same time it isn't. Grington explained how you can get a better understanding :D Keep up with the good work :D
