Excellent reaction, great analysis. I would say the people who say they are all about the performance and the music is secondary were blinded by the quality of the performances and forgot to actually listen to the songs. Each one of their songs is really well written - even crafted - and then performed almost flawlessly every time. They are all about the whole package - song, performance, staging, crowd engagement etc - and for me they offer the best live entertainment of any kind that I have had the privilege to experience in person. There may also be a little more depth to this song than it might appear on reading the lyrics. Yes, 'Headbanger' is about a girl going to her first concert on her 15th birthday, but 15 is significant in Japan as compulsory education also ends, so the girl is realising life will never be the same. She is having to grow up, she will no longer be considered just a child and her first 15 years passed so quickly, so she etching this special night into her heart so she will never forget. There are other versions of 'Headbanger' from special occasions as well. The Legend D concert in December 2012 for Su-metal's own 15th birthday and the Legend 1997 concert in December 2013 celebrating Su-metal's 16th birthday both started with a (very obviously and deliberately lip-synced) dance remix version ('Headbanger - Night of 15 Re-Mix'). At concerts on or near their own 15th birthdays in 2014 Yui (in Paris) and Moa (in Cologne) took over lead vocals for 'Headbanger' half way through when Su handed them the mic and stand - she took their place in the choreo. Only fancam videos exist for those performances. The same thing happened in 2019 at the Legend M concert celebrating Moametal's 20th birthday (20 is (or was) the official age of majority in Japan). Moa once again took over lead vocals after Su handed her the mic and stand - and the lyrics were changed to "...this special night of my 20th...". Most recently in March this year at the Legend MM concerts celebrating Momometal's 21st birthday we got her version on the day before her 21st (she was not an official member the year before so she did it to mark the last day when she was still 20).

Mikiko-san, the choreographer, once said that Yui and Moa (and Momo by extension) love to become a character and act like someone in a performance. Su she says "doesn't become someone, she is someone." Whether Su is goofy, cute, or killing someone with her death stare, she is always Su, and you get what she is feeling at that moment.

Nice reaction to the incredible musical experience know as BabyMetal. Three girls - one queen and two princesses - backed by a gnarly shred metal band. I saw them twice in San Francisco in April and then again at Fox Fest in Japan in May, and they were awesome. Their crowd control is off the charts. At Fox Fest, they had the crowd on the verge of spontaneous combustion. I’m an old rocker from way back, and I’ve followed many great bands over the decades (I saw Hendrix, the Who, the Doors, Cream, and Led Zep in concert), but BabyMetal is on another level. I haven’t been as intrigued or addicted to any band like I am with BabyMetal since the olden days. They are pure joy. I’m looking forward to seeing them again in November.

Having seen a ton of their concert BluRays, I will say the energy, the showmanship, and crowd engagements are their staple throughout! _Hedoban hedoban!_ _Ban ban ban ban_ 🦊🤘🛐 Welcome back to the Foxhole. This song was part of the World Tour 2023/2024, everyone love this song and were having a blast with the girls headbanging real hard in the middle section instead of the usual bowing down on their knees or having fun with the cryo smoke gun. They did it at San Francisco as part of Babyklok Tour along with Dethklok and more recently at the Europe Tour. Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!! is one of BM fans favorite and got special meaning too. Song is about a 15 years old girl celebrating her birthday going to her first live concert, probably metal, while having melancholy for leaving her childhood behind. Isn't about any of our girls but they embraced this song like it was made for them, you'll find many special versions of this, even when they celebrate their 20th Birthday. 15 is an important coming of age for Japanese girls, 20 is another important date. You'll find many more special versions celebrating their birthday, such recently last March when the new official member MomoMetal did it at Legend MM, Yokohama Arena celebrating her "20 Night", we called it "MomoBanger", and the day after her "21 Night" with another different song. This was at Legend 1997 (that's the title of this live concert referring to SuMetal birthyear) in 2013 celebrating SuMetal 16th Birthday, and the whole concert was special, if you want to know the rest of the songs finishing this, those are: - "Akatsuki" Unfinished Version, a beautiful SuMetal solo version with only a piano behind, the original song is a power/speed metal balad - "Babymetal Death", be ready for this insane ending, Legend 1997 was an special live concert, and along with Legend 1999 celebrating Yui and MoaMetal birthday are tied together to represent the commitment of these girls with this group, a new rebirth. The live concert and also this song got plenty of tributes to the greatest metal bands, like Metallica and X-Japan, specially Yoshiki, the gong at the end is one of those, you'll find more and plenty of this to add to their lore. The statue behind is SuMetal resemblance and is a tribute to Metallica's Lady Justice. The official MV is also creepy for some fans, I guess the organ gave that effect, you'll also see the neckbrace there for the first time which is a tribute to Yoshiki from X-Japan. Another thing that you don't see so much here in their live performance is, when YuiMetal and MoaMetal are having fun with cryo or smoke gun, the choreography on this part is with them down on their knees and doing the "dogeza hedoban" which is like bowing down back and forth summoning the metal spirit represented by the neckbrace while SuMetal is standing with the mic rise up and her relentless death stare, that's another moment we called -NotACult- The Kami Band here are insane set of elite musicians who were send to help with the metal sound, "kami" means roughly "god", they're wearing burial white robes and corpse face paint to represent those spiritual entities. They rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). They are: - Míkio Fujioka, god of guitar, a beloved member, sadly he passed away in 2018. (R.I.P.), he's the one doing that sick solo. - Leda Cygnus, god of guitar, he's the only Kami Band member who's credited as a session musician when recording some albums tracks. - BOH, god of bass, he's the bald one and not only got amazing talent but her fun way to enjoy reminds me Flea from RHCP. You can see at the end (when SuMetal is crawling upstairs) his head got written "Happy Birthday". - Hideki Aoyama,, god of drums, he comes from a family of expert drummers, and his father was very famous in the Japanese music scene. During the recent World Tour 2023/2024 they got another whole different set of musicians, we called them West Kami Band, they've been playing with them since 2019, so the Kami Band musicians aren't official members and the girls are the only front women of this group. Next suggestion to enjoy a SuMetal solo outside of the usual happy vibes songs. - Rondo Of Nightmare with Mischief Of Metal Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014 They recently announced they will be at Knotfest Brazil for the first time in South America in October, and hopefully more countries nearby, they also confirmed Mexico the second week of November as a special guests for Slipknot, can't wait for Brazil and I'm preparing myself to enjoy that show. Great reaction as usual, I always enjoy them a lot! There have been a few big names in my list of favourite Metal bands over the years (Iron Maiden, Metallica, Dream Theater...), but I have never been as addicted as I am to BABYMETAL. The most important thing is that they simply have no bad songs, there are no duds or fillers on their albums. But in addition to that, there are so many facets to their performances that other bands don't offer on that level or not at all. One of the most important and fascinating elements is the interaction with the crowd. The girls and the crowd spur each other on, having the energy level spiral higher and higher. Having said that, I wonder if that's as unusual to a Japanese fan as it is to us. I'm not well versed in the Japanese music scene, so I wonder whether this sort of relationship with the crowd is possibly not that uncommon in the idol scene? One tiny correction: The dancers in this video were Moa and Yui, this was well before Momoko joined.

6:03 this is based on the lyrics: "with her long black hair" 🙂 This is what the girls did in the recording booth and they choreographer they work with incorporated it in the performance because of it. They might have been little kids, but anything they did the adults in the room could incorporate they would.

7:41 the have their origin in Japanese idol and they know how to work a crowd, but also very important: the producer of Babymetal always had an interest in how crowds react. It's his hobby to study crowds. He did not come from idol culture, but from band culture, but he loved watching crowds. Kind of like some people like to watch people when sitting at a spring time cafe. And part of that knowledge seeps into the choreography as well.

Great reaction, thanks! One correction: that was Yui (not Momoko). She's the original member, alongside Su and Moa since their origins in 2010. She performed until October 2017 and eventually left officially in October 2018 due to an undisclosed health issue. "Headbanger" or more properly "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" or "ヘドバンギャー! !" (Hedobangyā!!) is probably deeper than you might think. It's about a girl who attends to her first metal concert on the night of her 15th birthday and that causes a great impact on her. That is the age of the end of the compulsory school in Japan so young people have to make some relevant decisions at that point. So, this is actually about coming on age and leaving the childhood behind with a hint of nostalgia. Not a biographical theme because this is a pretty early song and Su-metal performed it for the first time when she was only 14. This performance is impressive and not only because of the ladies and the Kami Band skills and precision (it's actually their thing) but also because of the crowd interaction. They are black belt in crowd control and that makes their live performances really amazing. Consider this a masterclass. 😁 🤘🦊

We love the added info regarding the song's lyrics, which do add depth. Unfortunately, it's not something anyone can know without doing research on a song, which we prefer not to do in order to keep the reactions real and genuine/natural, rather than an information session with pre-decided opinions. We absolutely agree regarding this performance by the girls and Kami band who control the crowd so amazingly well. Definitely a favourite among Babymetal live performances. Hey guys, I checked your BabyMetal playlist and enjoyed your reactions, but I’m surprised to see that you haven’t yet reacted to the two ultimate classic BabyMetal performances - IJIME, DAME, ZETTAI, Live at Sonisphere 2014; and ROAD OF RESISTANCE, Live in Japan. These are astounding live performances of two of their best songs. The Sonisphere 2014 metal festival in the UK introduced BabyMetal to the world outside of Japan and is where Suzuka became Queen Su. ROAD OF RESISTANCE is BabyMetal’s anthem. Your BabyMetal journey cannot be complete without experiencing these two awesome live performances.

I think the crybabies are the people who object to metal music. As trained idols they have always been able to work the crowd as that is about 90% of what being an idol is lol, Moa and Yui were always the stand outs at this, a lot of people when they first encounter Babymetal wonder why the two younger girls are even there, but they played an important role in the group by taking a lot of pressure off Su needing to front the band and allowed her to focus more on what she is most comfortable doing, singing, Su has commented that without Moa (and Yui) she doesn't think she could have done all that she has over the last 14 years.

Gentlemen another exceptional reaction. Your comments are always so insightful and arise-I believe-in large part due to how closely you pay attention. It's a treat to watch and listen to. I never cease to be amazed at the confidence and professionalism of the girls in this period. And honestly for their whole career. Babymetal from the start were accused of playing bubblegum rock. In response-and I truly believe only Babymetal could have pulled this off- in 2015-they released "Awadama Fever" a song about gum. Which also has some balls to the wall heavy sections. And my word here but I believe were saying the same thing. Babymetal are mesmerizing. They have a gravitational pull all their own and caught me on their first pass. Great work guys, really. FYI: Itai-Momo was still six years in the future at this point. These are all the OG's. Su, Moa and Yui. But no biggie-obviously.

About show and substance: they're simply everything and it drives their haters mad sometimes, because there's actually not much to latch onto when you truly want to find ways to criticize BABYMETAL. And on top of all that, the total humility and absence of arrogance in their behavior/demeanor outside of shows is truly the icing on the cake. They're hardworking, super talented people all around and yet they're so modest about themselves. I truly wouldn't wanna be one of their irrational haters because I would hate feeling so helpless in trying to explain why it is I hate them so much. Poor sods really 😅

Fun reaction. Thank you for that. One thing I'll point out though just to help you out with your edumication. Momo wasn't part of the band at this point yet. The 2 girls dancing were Moa and Yui. Yuimetal was the other original member when Babymetal started up. You can tell her apart from Momo as Momo is the tallest of all the girls (even surpassing Su by a little bit). Yui and Moa are almost the same height. Also Yui has the chubby Baby cheeks which helps make her look super adorable and young. Yui is often considered the better of the dancers, although not sure who is considered better between Momo and Yui, that is a bit hard to judge seeing as Yui is no longer with the group sadly. Other than that, great reaction, totally agree with what you said. I think the crybabies you mentioned is concerning all the metal gatekeepers who are upset that Babymetal is getting the attention and popularity that they have garnered. They are jealous and are being childish with the name calling and temper tantrums, thus the cry babies statement. At least that is my assumption.

Good reaction. Two little things. 1.- Western reactors tend to confuse something that is important to understand BabyMetal: they are a group of idols. In Asia, idols are trained from a very young age not only to sing and dance, but to control the public. An idol group depends to a large extent on the number of fans they have (it's very close there), so they have to build their loyalty. 2.- The other point is that it is not MomoMetal that accompanies MoaMetal, but YuiMetal, one of the 3 original members. Momo joined the group last year, although she was a dancer for years, it was not until last year that she became an official member of BabyMetal. Well, they are much more efficient knowadays. They knowthat one glance and one smile can captivate parts of the audience and exactly this is what Moa and Momo do. They take parts of the audience and reform them check if we know our zext, if we know what to do. They are really working on the audience so that a sinle move by Su can control the whole audience.

Not bad for 3 high school students, Su turned 16 the day before the concert, Yui and Moa are 14.The Statue is of Su, not who you might think it is. In roughly 6 months they will be in England at the Sonisphere Festival. In a 30 minute perfromance they up-ended the Metal Music World. This is not the end of the concert. There's another performance after this. Intersted???

If we don't pause and discuss, the video gets blocked. It's either this or not at all, unfortunately. Some copyright holders are more lenient, others less so. @@myindieprodentertainment Of this I am aware but I am under the impression that no more than three pauses need be done. I find it a bit annoying that you'll watch roughly thirty seconds to a minute of video then chat it up for three or four minutes generally rehashing something you discussed in the previous pause. And I've seen other tricks of the trade employed by other reacters that allow them to get past the copyright police. As I said before, it is your channel, you do as you do - but I'm afraid I won't be around to see your next paid for BABYMETAL reaction. Fare thee well, kind sirs.

@@Filboid2000 Every copyright holder is different and for some reason, the way reactors are treated can also be different. We don't do it on purpose. If you check our other reaction (non Babymetal-related) most have only one or two pauses throughout. We do what we can. If you don't like what we do and are unhappy with the show, we understand. Moma isn't in Babymetal during the time of this video. She didn't start performing with BM until 2019 alongside the other 2 Avengers. Momo became a permanent member in 2023. This is the original lineup with Yui. Yui had to leave the band in 2018 due to an undisclosed illness.
