Great reaction! I totally agree about the BABYMETAL production. They are often called fake, because the girls are not doing everything on their own. But I believe that that's exactly why it can be so good in every single aspect. There are probably dozens of people involved, and everyone is doing only the things they do best. I think the result proves them right. To me they are the most complete package of entertainment you can get.

This video is a compilation of proshot videos. While the audio track used underneath comes from a live show there was likely post editing done to balance and clean up the track. The band performs live however to maintain a tight choreography they play to a click. While the band performs live there is a backing track adding in additional instruments and singers not on stage.

This is a compilation video from various concerts over the years. There were 2 circular stages from 2 different concerts. One from Budokan and other is from their 2-night Black Night & Red Night concerts held at the Tokyo Dome. That concert had 110,00 fans over those 2 nights. Each night had a different setlist lasting about an hour and a half. The stage was designed as a spaceship in the center of the dome. It had a 360 degree video screen, was multi-level, had hidden lifts coming out of the extend stage arms. A hidden elevator going up through maybe 30m (100 ft) tower that had a platform at the top of the spaceship. But the main stage was a ring that rotated 360 degrees. In the center of the ring was the Kami band. So you can imagine dancing and singing on a moving stage going around and around in circles. The production budget for Babymetal "special concerts" mostly in Japan are insane. This concert is at 6:29 I think of one of the square stage performances was at their 2019 LA Forum concert in Los Angeles.

If you react to another Babymetal song you should give Road of Resistance Live in Japan a watch. That one song alone showcases everything that makes Babymetal who they are: Awesome vocals, great choreography, amazing music track by the Kami band and crowd interaction. Those 3 young girls (I think Su was 17 and Yui and Moa were 15/16 at the time) have a crowd of 20k people eatinmg out of their hands. Another song to check out is a Su solo called No Rain No Rainbow, specially the Baptism XX version . Su shows so much emotion in her vocals for this song, even to the point you can hear her voice wavering.
@paulbenwell35603 жыл бұрын
Road of Resistance Live in Japan is oen of the very best showcases of their ability. It is the end of a live show - they have sung/dance for 80 odd minutes and then do an 8 minute power metal song that leaves you blown away. And yes Su had turned 17 just literally a couple of weeks before, and Moa/Yui are 15 1/2 and they have the 22,000-23,000 audience firmly in their hand better than most adult perfomers ever achieve.

Sorry. But _nothing_ "showcases all that makes Babymetal awsome." RoR is amazing; I agree. And it's a great starting point for many. But Babymetal (to me, at least) can never be about 'one song'. The whole point is that they continually reinvent, create, excell, push the boundaries, merge things in surprising ways. "Baby" in the name is not about the fact that they were very young and cute when they started. (Although both are obviously true.) It is about starting over. Rebirth. Finding a new way of doing things. There are a few ballads and pop and rock songs on their albums that can be labeled as such. But everything else is so distinct that sometimes you just have to marvel that it's the same band. Or that it somehow works. But it does. No; I firmly believe that when I find Babymetal's "showcase" song, they will no longer appeal to me. Fortunately, with the existing song list, this will probably never happen.
@ThePsychosocialite2 жыл бұрын
@@Varksterable I completely agree that Babymeyal will never be about just a single song, I never said they were. I didn't mean that this song is their best song. I meant the live version of the song shows off all the various aspects that help set them apart from other bands. My favourite song is actually No Rain No Rainbow because it's Su giving one of her most emotional performances, but I do also like most of the more faster paced songs like Arkadia.
@anonemoose6622 Жыл бұрын
I would say "Rondo Of Nightmare" from their first Budokan show or "Pa Pa Ya" from the 10 BabyMetal Years 2021 at Budokan. Saw them a couple weeks ago and every song ripped including some improv band riffing which was way better than a lot of Big Name metal bands. They were tighter, faster, and the crowdwork is unmatched. Kami band honestly doesn't get enough credit for how much they amplify the show.

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. It is almost unforgivable that you were at one of their concerts and took no notice because you were there for the support act Avatar ... almost unforgivable - you have discovered just how good they are now. This is a fan made compilation with video from several different concerts (but yes they were all in Japan) ... I saw a bit of Legend 1997 at Makuhari Messe, the Budokan (that was the stage at the centre of the arena you asked about - the Budokan is a martial arts arena built for the 1964 Olympics but now also a hugely prestigious music venue), Tokyo Dome (another stage at the centre of the Arena, but much bigger), the Big Fox Festival, Legend S in Hiroshima, Yokohama in 2015 and the Legend Metal Galaxy show ... there were probably more. I think the audio they used for this compilation video was also switching from one show to the next ... BABYMETAL are so consistent with not only the choreo and the timing, but with the quality and energy - it is what makes these fan made compilation videos possible. I would recommend for your first time hearing any more songs that you avoid compilations (most will say "live pro-shot" - that just means they have used the pro-shot videos from more than one performance) unless there really is no better full live alternative. Su-metal is the lead vocalist - she was 12 when they started in 2010 (11 years on, she is 23 now) and her vocals have always been live - there are specific short sections of certain songs that are on backing track, but she makes no pretence to be singing those bits other than miming a scream here and there for the choreo. Yuimetal and Moametal were both 11 when they started. They are in charge of "scream and dance". That means backing vocals, harmonies and leading chants, but their main purpose is to engage with, lead and direct the crowd - when they jump or make a certain move the crowd jumps or copies their move and their parts of the songs are the parts the crowd sing along with. Yui and Moa do get help with some backing track during more energetic choreo, but they sing live a lot more than many people believe or give them credit for and they were doing so a lot earlier than those same people think as well (it doesn't always look like they're singing as Yui never really moved her mouth much). Although the whole concept was formed and developed around Su-metal and her vocal talents and stage presence (she is exceptionally talented - and yes she does a whole lot of the choreo while singing) Yuimetal's and Moametal's role within BABYMETAL is crucial as getting the crowd involved so they become a big part of the show and the performance is one of the main things that makes BABYMETAL so special. Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 following a 12 month absence for undisclosed health reasons. BABYMETAL have been supported in all live shows since the start of 2014 by the Kami Band - some of the very best session musicians to be found in Japan. They first appeared in October 2012 and played a couple of festivals and the encores in a few shows until becoming the full time support in march 2014. There are many musicians who have played in the Kami Band when one of the regulars was unavailable, but they have a hard core of the same people who have been with them for the vast majority of their shows. For the extended US and European tours of 2019 and 2020 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians) was introduced. You have about 50 songs to discover if you fancy a BABYMETAL binge - every one of them is different, none of them is bad, some are masterpieces so pick anything or check the recommendations in the comments.

As to their ages, they actually started this in middle school. They were part of a much larger child band ensemble. The producer was a big metal head for all that the group was pop, and thought these three could do something different. Originally Babymeal was just a side project they did during performances as of the larger group which was still pop once they got back in their normal costumes, but the novelty got them phone recordings that went viral and then there was demand for them to do more and obviously at this point it’s safe to say it worked out for them. :)

Welcome to the fox hole and Babymetal galaxy! \m/ Good you already know the girls a little bit, lemme help you with some more info. _Headbanger!_ is an all time BM favorite, song is about 15 year old girl special birthday going to her first metal concert while leaving her childhood behind, is a melancholic enka japanese style song mixed with industrial metal like you'd never heard before. This song is one of the earliest Babymetal songs and it was released when the lead singer got only 14 years old so it's not biographical song, but the song grows throughtout the time even on the girls while understanding many things on lyrics such the "special discount ticket" japanese people get during certain special day that allow them to travel long distance in public transportation paying only one time so they can go the concert they like. Babymetal is a japanese trio group or "metal dance unit" composed of SuMetal (Lead Vocals, born in 1997), YuiMetal (former member, left in 2018) and MoaMetal (Scream and Dance, born in 1999), formed in 2010 as a subunit under the limited to the period of growth unit "Sakura Gakuin" idol group show, they created their own genre called *"kawaii metal"* or cute-metal. This is a live compilation, sadly there's too many info there to put it all here, but most of these clips are around 2013-2020, i highly recommend you to avoid live compilations for next time reaction. You have "Legend 1997" in 2013 as a great live performance version of this song, it was during SuMetal 16th birhday, the year is a reference to SuMetal birthyear, so she is 16 and the other girls 14, but if you want more full info from them i recommend you to watch "A Babymetal Guide" from CrypticMisery channel, you have a short and long version with full updated and objective info, i think short version it'll do for first time to not amuse you with so much info, talking about "Amuse" beware because they heavily block BM vids specially after 2014 or official MV, in case you want alternative options to get vids to react safely, search "Babymetal Reactor Resource" channel and follow instructions to get watermarked logo vids to upload here for us while you watch non-watermarked logo vid. Songs are even more heavier during live performances with crowd interaction like you saw on this one, and with the blaster sound of "Kami Band" behind even more powerful, they're a set of elite musicians you sure don't want to miss them. In this case if i'm not mistaken the audio is from Big Fox Festival. Their official MV is somewhat creepy for many fans, specially female fans, but once you get to know this song live there's no way to not felt in love and embrace it even more. Also in this official MV the girls are pretty young just like during *Legend I* first time Kami Band shows up and beginning of "Metal Resistance" chapter. Babymetal got plenty of lore and stories behind most of their songs, but sometimes is just about fun and lyrics are not so important but the sound and music will never let you down as well as their insane amount of energy they put every live performance, in this case lyrics are meaningful, that's why is one of the most beloved by fans and you hardly see this song not being played during live performances. Don't be afraid to keep listen more Babymetal songs, you got more than 50 songs and you won't find any song alike to another, they're like a chocolate box full of surprises and new flavors, talking about it _"Gimme Chocolate!"_ is one of their most viewed YT vids for a reason ;) But for your next reaction I think _"Road Of Resistance"_ is one of the strongest Babymetal weapon along with _Karate_ from the 2nd album, but if you want to go keep diggin 1st album songs like this one, you might want to listen songs like _"Babymetal Death" live Legend 1997, Megitsune official MV or live at Budokan 2014, "Catch Me If You Can" live at Budokan 2014, "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere 2014, "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs of Gods intro (SuMetal solo), "Onedari Daisakusen" (Black Babymetal)_ and the entire album is a blast. Now that you mentioned Avatar opened for BabyMetal in 2019, that's cool, you were so lucky for being there, you're not the first one going to see another band and meeting BabyMetal for the first time but not knowing how big they already were there. I share with you the same fascination with japanese culture and many more things. I'm pretty sure you will enjoy and surprise with more songs of them. Recently they released 10 Babymetal Budokan DVD/BD and if you think this is awesome and top notch productions, just wait for some clips over there. Come back whenever you can with more BabyMetal songs. Peace! \m/ _LIVINGLEGEND_ _10BABYMETALYEARS_

In conclusion, Babymetal is not only their efforts, but also the outstanding ability and choreography of the backing Kami band and Mikiko-sensei, who has been teaching them to become wonderful and respected people, the stage. There is Babymetal intertwined with the people who imagine (and of course Mikiko-sensei is also involved) and make it a reality, the people of Amuse in production, the team that provides meals during live performances. Three girls who never forget to thank fan and her supporting people. In an interview with Kami Band, they said, "Three girls are super kind and the best girls .That's why we can put out so much energy and we get energy. She is an ordinary attractive woman who is usually no different from other similar age groups. I think the influence of Professor Mikiko is great.

But BM staging is utterly incredibly - Their arena sets are mind blowing - and designed to give the audience a theatrical experience (the opening of Legend S show is - well better than anything I have ever seen). Their choreographer is one of japan's foremost (Mikiko), she has worked with these girls since they were 11 so knows them well. And that is part of how they sing and dance - this has been their professional life for 10 years. There is a standing joke - some singers train by running on a treadmill then getting off and singing.. SUMETAL trains by running and singing on a treadmill at the same time! I have seen this woman live 3 times and her energy is unbelievable, she starts a show at 110% and simply DOES NOT STOP.

As a musician, can you even imagine what it must've been like to headline a show at Budokan at age 16 with that many fans screaming out all the right parts, with that kind of production?

Te escribo desde Sudamerica, me encanta tu estilo, y forma de cantar, te recomiendo reaccionar a Akatsuki de Babymetal, ya que es el tipo de Metal que creo que te gustara, abrazos!!
The choreography is great. They have Su with Moa and Yui then Moa and Yui as a duet then Su solo so they get brakes. This could be a training aid on how to do it. Beginning to end. 110%. Look at Perfume to see how great the sets can be or even One OK Rock.

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🤘 Even though Su has a beautiful soprano voice, I love that she sings a lot of this one in a lower register. That always sounds great. I was thrilled when they brought 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' back during the 2019 tour, and I was finally able to see it live at the LA Forum concert. 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' was one of their early hits. Even though the song is about a fifteen year old girl attending her first heavy concert, Su was only fourteen when the single and video were released. It's not biographical, but it is a song she could probably relate to. At that age she was on stage, rather than attending concerts like the girl in the song. : ) There's a fair amount of complicated wordplay in the song, like "ichigo" meaning "15" (1+5), "strawberry", and "once in a lifetime", but essentially it's about the ephemeral nature of youth.

The Budokan concert hall in Japan was designed by architect Mamoru Yamada. The Nippon Budokan, located in Tokyo, was originally built in 1964 to host the judo competitions during the Tokyo Summer Olympics. However, it became famous as a venue for concerts and international musical events, notably through performances by bands like the Beatles in 1966, which helped make it iconic for live music in Japan.

I think the best reactions come from artists such as yourself. There's another man I listen to who does reaction videos I think his last name is Heretic. The way you take apart and dissect the performance shows me that you both know your stuff. You want to see a stage; you want to react to the song ‘Road of Resistance’. The performance is at Tokyo Dome. Tokyo Dome holds 5500 people and every seat was full, even in the nosebleed section. And for visual effects of a stage, you should check out Pa Pa Ya just in your spare time.

Thanks for this reaction ! Glad you enjoyed it ! 😃 As you've noticed Babymetal is incredibly engaging. So much so you didn't notice how often their clothes changed between the clips in the compilation. Babymetal live is when everything comes together and Babymetal is at their best. Yes, Babymetal is choreographed a lot, but as you said it takes a lot of training, etc. and singing like that gets at the very least a lot of respect by metal fans. It's also why it's a lot easier to make compilation videos. Actually Johannes of Avatar said Babymetal is a bit like Cirque du Soleil. Myself I've sometimes called it a sort of Metal Opera (kind of like a Rock Opera). Su-metal is a performance beast ! LOL Even though she is still so young she has tons of experience and training. Headbanger because it's an earlier song has this moment of standing still/rest. But a Babymetal show really is full on most of the time. The other 2 girls, Yuimetal and Moametal. Sometimes do use backing tracks, they can't sing everything all the time. As someone else suggested: check out: Babymetal Karate at Download, UK 2016. A festival show in the west without all the stage production where you can really judge what is going on. This is what was in the description of the video you reacted too, I've put them in order, added some info, they are all in Japan, but Babymetal has done 2 arena shows outside of Japan (UK - 2016 and US - 2020, both to promote an album release). shows featured: LEGEND - 1997 (statue in the background) BUDOKAN BLACK NIGHT 2014 - the center stage at 1:38 or 2:45 MAKUHARI MESSE 2014 MAKUHARI MESSE 2015 SSA 2015 YOKOHAMA 2015 - the stage with the 3 Egyptian-style fox heads at 10:16 and 10:54 TOKYO DOME BLACK NIGHT 2016 - the bigger center stage with the big tower above/behind them: 2:04 and 6:29 BIG FOX FESTIVAL 2017 - stage with big screens: 1:58 LEGEND - S - 2017 - stage with Fox Heads like at 1:36 METAL GALAXY - DAY 2 - 2020 - rectangular stage at 6:24 Audio: BIG FOX FESTIVAL 2017

Babymetal is awesome live. They only do a few shows with the full sets to make videos and albums for release. They are on a click track and at 100%. Between the recorded vocals and musicians they don't have the luxury of mistakes. Live they are a force of nature and worth the time even if the standard shows are at a smaller level and short. Su-Metal was a seasoned performer prier to joining and it will be interesting to see her grow and adjust as she ages. By opening for other groups or playing the smaller venues they are a getting the word out without burning through cash. There are three groups sailing on this ship. Babymetal, One OK Rock and Perfume. The production is world class and the energy is amazing. They have toured with the Red Hot Chilly Peppers, Guns N Roses, Korn, and a gig with Metallica. Rob Halford from Judas Priest did a great show with them and Bring Me the Horizon were a few that worked with them. Bring Me the Horizon was in the most adult tune thus far. Just because they started out as young girls their lyrics have stretched far from what a normal teen/preteen group might perform lyrically. Almost any song you choose will be a bit different than anything else. I prefer the earlier tunes myself and it will be interesting where the band goes. Watch out for Su, though she may look small ...

I have been loving Su even before she is Su-Metal, when she was still in Sakura Gakuin. I haven't followed Babymetal again since Yui-Metal left the trio, but I can concur that Su is one of the vocalists with crazy stamina.

As a side note one of the two original dancers Yui (their offical title is Scream & Dance - and they do sing as well) left due to illness in 2017/18 and was replaced recently by 3 rotating dancers called Avengers. In 2019 they performed at Glastonbury and the dancer there was Riho Sayashi (a well known former member of Morning Misume and professional dancer). By the end of the set she looked exhausted (and she does not sing). Moa (the remaining original dancer) looked as if she had barely started her workout.

I believe, Metal Music Will Rise in Asia! from Southeast Asia to East Asia for example Japan 🇯🇵, China 🇨🇳, Indonesia 🇲🇨, and other Asian countries. it is evident that now many quality metal bands have sprung up from Asia. Metalheads will always be everywhere, and have brought many surprises, one of which is BABYMETAL

Nice & welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。This is a compilation of footage from 10 concerts in 2013 through 2020 and the audio from a show in 2017. In this video, you heard the crowd shout some words at 09:56. The words are "ki-e-ro 消えろ!" meaning "get out of here!". This shout in Japanese comes out wherever they go on this planet and whenever Su-Metal directs her mic towards audiences. Your twitter tells you are residing in New York. So you must have been at Terminal 5 on Sep. 15, 2019 to see an opening act, Avatar. BM performed Headbanger as 11th song and, of course, New Yorkers did shout it 😄 . Now in 2021, BM played this song in all of 10 BABYMETAL BUDOKAN Concerts with Su's matured voice and Moa's more agitating moves. I witnessed it 9 times and was enchanted to do headbang 9 times ヽ(^o^)丿

Headbanger is about a girl on her 15th birthday getting a cheap train ticket. She gets to the concert and meets a mysterious man that teachers her how to headbang. I read a interview with Su saying that she didn't even realize students could get cheap tickets to go places. Both Yui and Moa have sung part of Headbanger on their birthdays. In the official Headbanger music video they show the stranger doing a windmill headbang. You and Moa incorporated that in the music video of Megitsune.

"I have no idea how somebody can jump and still sing" - it's kind of a thing for Japanese performers, actually. In fact, it's not uncommon for _voice actors_ for various anime series to also sing the in-story bits, and _then_ go on tour once the anime airs. :D Because _whyever not?_ :D It's more engagement. And these performances can be _brutal_ too - the choreography is very much a standard part of the package. They'll also dress up as their respective characters, and even do little skits in pauses (Touyama Nao did this as "Nakagawa Kanon", with the other "characters" from the show joining her on the stage and singing along, or even some solo pieces of their own). It's also _a ton of running,_ comparable to acts the like of Iron Maiden.

Great reaction! Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance. Here is a little bit of BABYMETAL info...In 2019, BABYMETAL became the first Asian artists to hit #1 on BILLBOARD's Top Rock Albums chart with their latest album, "Metal Galaxy" and last year the album won the MTV Japan VMA 2020 award for BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR. BABYMETAL has been melting faces for TEN+ years. Su, the lead singer, is currently 23 years old, while Moa and Yui are 21. Yes, they were very young when BABYMETAL was formed! BABYMETAL have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too.🤘🦊🤘
