Great lesson! I'd imagine it takes a bit of practice for this to be played simultaneously on two guitars. Are click tracks necessary for dual lead pieces....or is just a ton of practice together enough for two guitarists of similar abilities to learn to play in perfect harmony?

Almost certainly a click track! The way I'd do it, is have the drummer quietly keep time using the pedal on the hi-hat- you'll hear it on stage, but probably not front of house. The dummer here is accenting certain beats, which would probably be enough and doning that cymbal crescendo shimmery thing in between those stabs... Having said that I know some jazz bands do stuff back stage where they agree a beat of a bar to clap/make s noise on, then count in a tempo, every one is still/quite until the chosen beat happens. The more they do it the better their internal metronome becomes!
