Welcome back to the Foxhole and BabyMetal's metalverse 🦊🤘🌐 I don't remember following your BM journey but is always nice to see old BM fans and reactors coming back to hear more of them, this time returning with a more mature sound and a new BM side we've never seen before. A new single is coming this month right before the album drops, so get ready for more, meanwhile you can enjoy "Divine Attack - Shingeki" official visualizer, "Monochrome" official lyrics video, and METAL KINGDOM official MV, so far no one is having any copyright blocked issues so don't worry about it. L&D is another great pop rock ballad with beautiful SuMetal vocals piercing into our hearts. Love the J-pop sound and the nostalgic vibes mixed with the edm sound. Here's some info about this song: _"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is "LIGHT AND DARKNESS" and this 4th pre-release digital single “Light and Darkness” centers around this theme. Because light exists, darkness also exists._ _And because darkness is present, there is also a world that shines._ _During the night when light and darkness intersect, what we seek after poisoned with darkness awaits a world filled with strong love. As the door opens, is it hope or despair that awaits us? The song expresses the duality in everything and the way things are perceived and interpreted differ depending on each person’s point of view."_ This was a world premiere at Makuhari Messe 2023 setlist, along with "THE LEGEND" (maybe the next single), Momoko Okazaki is the third backup dancer performing here and possibly the new official member. MoaMetal once again adding the backing vocals and all of them dancing with the full trio formation. Thanks for sharing this. See you next time 🦊🤘🔥

Oh wow! I was in Makuhari a couple months ago. That’s cool. I really haven’t followed BM over the years. I kinda wish I had, but I am happy that their music has changed to be a more digestible style. It’s good for them commercially.

Great reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Foxhole. 'Gimme Chocolate' was the video and song that went viral 9 years ago and got them the initial attention, mainly for the WTF reactions it got (and still gets), but they always had the deeper and more meaningful songs among their fun ones right from when they started in 2010 - that hasn't changed. 'Light and Darkness' is the latest song they have released in advance of their upcoming new album, due for release in about 2 weeks. It is a concept album, so it may even be A-typical of BABYMETAL (if that is possible given they already have so much diversity among their previous albums and songs). It is definitely a song that leans a long way towards the pop end of the BABYMETAL Metal-Pop sliding scale, further than most I'd say (I never liked disco or techno thanks to being unable to avoid it when I was a lot younger, so it has taken a while and several listens to grow on me). However, this was the studio audio and I have read the live version moves back along the scale at least a little bit (not least because that's when we will hear the Kami Band - their support for all live concerts - playing). We can only wait for the DVD to hear the live audio and see how much it differs of course. I wonder what song you might be considering from "a couple of years ago" - again they do vary between fun or deep and Metal and ... whatever style or genre they fancied mixing in. I'm sure it will be interesting anyway.

@@ChaseAndRemmingtonMusic 'Megitsune' would be a great place to start - one of their older songs (2013) but possibly the most "Japanese" one, often tops fan polls for favourite song and is the one they've played live more than any other. Su-metal still uses it for sound checks as it is a hard one to sing. The official video is great, but they are a live performance act - the Babymetal Reactor Resource channel has a video called 'Future Plans' - in the description you can find a link to a spreadsheet and instructions on how to use the videos on the spreadsheet so they are safe for reactions. Each video has two links - one with a logo over it to put into the reaction, the other without the logo for you to watch. There are 4 'Megitsune' videos on there - my favourite is the Red Fox festival performance with an all female audience, but the 2015 New Year Fox Festival is particularly good as well (they're all good to be honest).

The only consistent thing about BABYMETAL is that they're amazing - their music, dance, and visuals change constantly to challenge all kinds of genres (especially in their 2019 Metal Galaxy album), so you never know what you're gonna get! Looking forward to you exploring more songs, just keep in mind that you want to listen to a lot of different songs because it's impossible to fully experience them through 1-2 songs.

That’s awesome. I have liked BabyMetal for a long time but have never really dug into their discography. I think it will be a lot of fun to do this. Especially with Remmington who has zero exposure to them before this. (Spoiler alert: I made him watch Gimme Choco right after this and it was way too fun 😂) -Chase

@@ChaseAndRemmingtonMusic I have a BM playlist that intentionally goes from their heaviest/serious songs like Metal Kingdom straight into their most childish/fun songs like Iine; it's quite a fun way to listen!

By the way, many people say that Babymetal's songs are like animated songs. Conversely, many of Japan's anime songs are influenced by metal songs. In the 1990s, the decline of metal songs in Japan caused people involved in metal songs who lost their jobs to go to produce anime songs. 😀

Hey there. As the guy who made that comment. I’ve heard quite a bit of Japanese music that didn’t bring to mind anime themes. Gacht is one example. And I did rather enjoy the song. Thanks for chiming in:)

So you saw Gimmie Chocolate 10 years ago, but know nothing about the over 50 BM songs, 4 award winning albums, sold out arenas all over the World and their struggles and even greater triumphs and expected to see pre-teen girls in tulle tu-tu's jumping around to Slipnot?? Great artists, like some people, grow. Sorry, but I'm not as BabyMetal nice as others here, but I can't remain silent while the uninformed make snarky comments. And we don't really need someone to explain to us how silent passages in music work. And BM is not, nor ever was "Death Metal".

You are absolutely right. This is my first experience with baby metal. It would be good to learn more about how their music has evolved over the years. What recommendations do you have for some of there landmark iconic works that they’ve done? Or maybe a good place to start?

@@ChaseAndRemmingtonMusic You, basically, can choose any song from their discography. It only would be hit or miss based on your personal preferences (not because the songwriting or the delivery is bad). Their first ever released song is "Doki Doki Morning" which they performed in the fall of 2010 for the first time when they were 12 (Suzuka Nakamoto, lead singer) and 11 (Yui Mizuno/Moa Kikuchi, backup vocals and dance) years old. In general, you should watch live performances, since they are one of the best live acts out there. They have a few really good MVs out, that were purposely made (like "Doki Doki Morning", "Megitsune", or "Karate"). But most of their officially released MVs "only" are live footage with studio audio overlayed.

Thanks for this reaction, sorry for being late. You might think their use of genres are related to their style, but it's not. So Babymetal's style has changed, but them doing many (sub)genres of metal or music in general has not. And the biggest change in style is just maturity and skills. From child-like innocence, because they were literally children to young women now. This song is maybe their most J-Pop like song with some metal, but Doki Doki Morning is also very much a J-Pop like song, mixed with metal. But Doki Doki Morning is more like ADHD compared to this song. 🙂

Yeah, not a great song to introduce someone to BM because this is off their upcoming album that is a concept album, so it's going to be different than all of their previous albums. I would have went for any other song of any other already released album than anything off this newest album.

@@ChaseAndRemmingtonMusic Yes, Amuse is notorious for blocking reacters. Go to the Babymetal's Reactor's Channel and use their videos. They've added a logo to the videos and have many ideas how to get by the blocking. Depending on the version of Gimme Chocolate you used, maybe you can overlay using his version. Good luck!

I'd say the first two BM albums were metal with a pop flavour, while the new album is pop with a metal flavour, while the third album was 50/50. All the songs from this album released so far I kinda liked at first, but got bored with them rather quickly.
