Great reaction, thanks! Yes, they are best enjoyed live, ideally in person and even better in large format shows in Japan (every fan's dream). 😊 "Monochrome" is on their softer side although it's really good to have a glimpse of how good they are at crowd interaction and control. As you noticed, Su-metal is the lead singer and the group was formed in first place (among other reasons) around her powerful vocals and unique stage presence. How can they coexist? Suzuka and Moa know each other (and have been performing together) since 2010, they were 12 and 11 years old back then. They went through a lot in all these years. Momoko joined officially last year after having been performing with them since 2019. They stay incredibly humble and have a lot of fun on stage. I 100% recommend attending one of their concerts. 🤘🦊

Great reaction! I like how your facial expressions during the first minute or so summed up the BABYMETAL experience nicely: A smile on one side and pure awe on the other. :-) That's still my reaction after seven years of being a fan. As you have seen, BABYMETAL is much more than just music, that's why everyone is recommending live shows. If you'd like to see something equally great, but a little heavier, "Road of Resistance - Live in Japan" wouldn't be a bad choice.

Loved this reaction, thank you! Babymetal has won 30-ish international industry awards in their history, many if not most have to do with their work live. There is nothing bad to say about the studio work, but live they are just special, and have been since the first time they set foot on a stage back in 2013 when they were 14/15 playing for a music house of about 1200 people in Japan. There is just nothing like them live, glad you caught this performance and look forward to more!

Imagine them with that crowd control when they were young teenagers. 55k sold out audience per night at the Tokyo Dome when they were 18 and 16 years old. They are in their mid twenties now. Just a side note: Their studio albums are just a preview of their live shows. Live shows in their official videos are usually flagship concerts held in Japan. Their touring performance are not as elaborate. But still bring it because the audience love them so very much. I hope you continue your Babymetal journey, it will be an experience unlike you've experienced before.

Welcome back, great reaction and thanks for taking notice and watching a live performance. BABYMETAL are the exception to your rule of listening to the studio recordings first. Do that as well by all means, the official videos are all very good, but live BABYMETAL is where they are always at their very best - as you saw, they don't just get on stage and sing their songs, they put on a real show and pay attention to every single aspect to make the whole thing spectacular. There are a lot of great live performances available for you taken from the BluRays and DVDs of their concerts. This video was actually a compilation with film from two concerts last year in January at the Makuhari Messe and in April at the PIA MM Arena. The audio was from the PIA Arena concert. 'Monochrome' is a beautiful song - and they had every crowd they played to last year (94 concerts in 25 countries) lighting up this "dark dark world" with their mobile phones ... and Su-metal hummed the melody to us. Yes these are the concerts you have to go to and experience for yourselves. Try 'Megitsune' live at PIA Arena from April last year. That one gives a good idea of what they are all about, but you could pick virtually any of their songs and you won't be disappointed.

Babymetal are one of that small group of musical acts that are way better live than on a studio recording. The interaction between the girls and the crowd is such an integral part of their performance that live is the only way to truly experience Babymetal as it is intended. This video is actually a compilation of two live performance from 2023; Babymetal Returns in January, and Babymetal Begins in April. The January show was their first live show in almost two years after returning from their hiatus. I was lucky enough to be at both these performances, so one of those lights in the crowd is mine, and I can tell you that it looked even more amazing seeing it live and being part of it. It's funny that you mentioned that it looks like the night sky, because if you read the translation of the lyrics, the song mentions the night sky.
@minamihideki71237 ай бұрын
I agree that the live versions are better when watching and listening to BABYMETAL, but one thing I would like you to be aware of, it is that many of the videos on YT are compilations, due to copyright issues. This seems to be one of them. The soundtrack seems to be from a live performance at the Pia Arena last April based on Su-'s narrative in the breakdown. Some of them have also edited the sound sources. I would never deny them, but I would like people to know that they are edited videos and enjoy them. It would be helpful to indicate the original source in the summary section. Thank you from Japan.

Welcome back to the Foxhole and now with the new metalverse era🦊🤘🌐 Thanks for coming back with this suggestion. Monochrome is another beautiful track from latest album, it was the 2nd single released in November 2022 and there's an official lyrics video really cool if you wanna enjoy the studio album version, later in 2023 right before this concert you just saw they released the Piano Version at The First Take surprising everyone with another stunning and beautiful one off stripped down version. The lyrics got some Norse mythology reference and when the lyrics vid came out there were many theories around, later they said they were surprised about it and saying they just wanna give a hopeful song. Here's some official info: _"One of the discovered 10 parallel worlds is MONOCHROME and this 2nd pre-release digital single “Monochrome” centers around this theme. From the eyes of the children, what color were the monochrome fireworks lighting up in the night sky? This song expresses the hopeful wish on Ragnarok, which signifies doomsday in Norse mythology, twinkling across the starry skies in rainbow colors."_ This was live at BabyMetal Begins - PIA Arena MM Clear Night, Yokohama on April 2, MomoMetal first concert as an official member (she's the new official member after YuiMetal left the group in 2018), you can notice SuMetal speaking to them in the middle section and giving that recognition. They got this magical moment when performing live in every setlist they did throughout the recent World Tour 2023, and we'll definitely gonna see more this year. The composer behind this song is the same one behind Karate, Rondo Of Nightmare, Kagerou, the arrangement of Megitsune and also behind Believing from this same latest album, you should really not miss those songs. In general the live version is always recommended but there are certain MV from early era that worth to watch first, such: - Iine! - Megitsune - Doki Doki Morning Like SuMetal said at the end: "Just smile".🙂 Keep enjoying BM songs and see you next time 🦊🤘🌈

Babymetal is always amazing live. To be honest you can probably find more Pro-Shot of Babymetal concerts than a fancam ones. 😂 This one is a compilation video with footage from two different concert 'Babymetal Returns - The Other One' and 'Babymetal Begins - Pia Arena MM Clear Night'. The audio is possibly from 'Babymetal Returns'. You guessed right about Babymetal has a very wide range. They started by doing 'J-Pop + Metal' creating a new sub-genre of Heavy Metal called 'Kawaii Metal' (meaning Cute Metal), but eventually expand their sound to explore a lot of different Heavy Metal sub-genres and mixing other genres with Metal such as Ska-Metal and Trap-Metal. There's almost no two songs that sounds similar. At this point, Babymetal is basically their own genre. Babymetal version of the Rabbit-Hole is called the Fox-Hole. If you wish to dive in (which you should 😆), here are some suggestions: Babymetal - 'Headbanger' Live at 'Legend 1997' 2013. (Song from 1st Album) Babymetal - 'Road of Resistance' Live in Japan 2015. Or Live at PIA Arena 2023. (Song from 2nd Album) Babymetal - 'Pa Pa Ya!' ft. F.Hero Live at 'Babymetal Awakens - The Sun Also Rises' 2019. (Song from 3rd Album) Babymetal - 'Mirror Mirror' Live at PIA Arena 2023. (Song from 1st Concept Album) We always welcome anyone who wish to dive in to the Fox-Hole. Enjoy!! 🦊🤘🦊🤘🦊🤘

When they do arena shows, they put up an incredible performance and production! But be aware that they mostly do that in Japan! When they tour EU and USA, they usually do much smaller venues, without big productions, something really simple. But we fans love it, because the girls focus extra on crowd interaction, and try to interact with as many fans as possible!! THey only did Arena shows outside Japan twice: in London, Wembley in 2016, and LA Forum in 2019.

Great reaction guys! Aside from the music, and amazing vocal and dance talents, I love Babymetal for their modesty and humbleness, and how they always appreciates the fans! In addition, they operate as a team always. Su-metal is of course, always lead vocals, but you'll notice many times, she's behind Momo and Moa who takes the choreography and crowd engagements to the forefront. They've done tribute songs to the fans and to their support staff/parents. Their band, the Kami Band, while not "officially" Babymetal, is an integral part. They have had plenty of solos and showcases too (both the original Kami East, and now the Kami West bands). For live performances, I suggest "For The Fox God" channel (solid pro-shot concert DVD live with subtitles). Also, I'm sure you've noticed that this is not their first rodeo, so, here's a suggestion you HAVE to get to: *Road of Resistance (Official, Live):* Jan 2015 performance of this classic and epic power metal anthem. Staple show closer for almost a decade. Watch a 17-year old stage general Su-metal and her 2 Lieutenants lead an army of 20K sold out fans to a massive wall of death and circle pits. Oh, Herman Li and Sam Totman of Dragonforce co-wrote guitars on this song. You asked about "their range", so here are a few songs that are 100% different, and will blow your mind: *Gimme Chocolate (Pia Arena MM, 2023):* Their "meme" hit that went viral a decade ago, but a 2023 rendition. Super goofy, but thrashy song about girls wanting chocolate but worried about weight. *BABYMETAL DEATH (Legend 1997):* Dark AF, their staple concert/encore intro song. Dec 2013 show showing you how to have a proper "sweet 16th" birthday show closer for a metal queen. 🤣 *iine! (Official, MV):* Their 2nd song ever. "Baby" Babymetal will slap you across the face multiple times with the "WTF" factor. *Metalizm (Pia Arena, MM, 2023):* Egyption dubstep EDM with epic guitar riffs? WTF? Why do I love this so much? *Tales of the Destinies (Tokyo Dome, 2016):* Who does prog metal better? Dream Theater or Babymetal? Mike Portnoy gave this his thumbs up. Note: potential copyright issues with this song, but worth it! Look forward to more Babymetal! 🤘🦊

and to think they have been around since 2010. they have been also controlling fans mostly since they have gotten bigger in 2013 when the lead Su was 16 years old and the other two were 14. Su has actually been on stage since she was 6 years old. this is a one of one type of band. they do so many different genres and blend them together and make it their own. even a small venue where there is only about 2000 people they still give their all. yes you have to see them live. they shine live. they sound so much better live because like one reacter mentioned that there is no constraint on them. on a cd it feels compressed but live they are open air. Megitsune is a good next song live but that song also you need to do the video because they were 15 and 13 years old at that time. then see it live and how the crowd loves this song.

As I am sure you noticed the cameras - gantries, drones, fixed cameras. Babymetal's main product is dvd/blurays of the live shows. Studio albums are secondary to that. So the big shows in Japan are almost all very, very professionally produced and filmed. They do 4-6 big live shows a year in Japan but they also are a very serious touring band. They did about 100 shows outside Japan last year - Asia, North America and Europe and also do a fair number of festivals each year.

Disagree. Studio versions aren't second to the live ones. Even though they may perfect songs with the audience interaction and so on, the studio versions are the blueprint, and sometimes the only thing some fans get to experience. So while I also prefer certain live versions of certain songs to the studio versions, I still believe it will good to experience the songs as they were released first. Then, if you like it, it's just natural to go look for a live version to enhance the song. If you always choose live first with no exception, you may run into a badly made comp of five different shows from all eras and with bad sound that doesn't match what they are doing on stage. That vould easily turn you off a song, and may never return again.
@jimnusbaum35897 ай бұрын
@@Hgoenge81 They are secondary to Babymetal's business model. They have released over 20 live albums and DVD/Blurays compared to 4 studio albums. I didn't mean they were secondary to the experience of the performance, although I believe they are. The dancing is an integral part of Babymetal and that can't be experienced from an audio only recording. Yes there are bad compilations but there are also a HUGE number of proshot live performances that are easily accessible to the viewer. They may be hard to react to because of the copyright but an individual can view them no problem. In addition many songs were performed live first before any studio release. So if you want to see how they were performed "first" you need to watch the live performance.

I don't remember which show or song it was, but actually IS one song where you can see that the lead singer (Su-Metal) was actually caught off guard and was dumbstruck by the crowd and all the lights in the crowd. I think it might have been the first time they ever did that to such a large capacity. One of the fans who are very knowledgeable (maybe Grington300 or Jakemuller8626 or Roadrunner will know), but that video is also pretty cool to watch as it's just as amazing. As for the girls being humble and not having an ego, you are correct, they ARE in fact VERY humble and don't take any of what they have for granted. In fact, if you saw them in passing on the street, you FIRST might not even recognize them because they seem to become totally different people outside of their musical role, ESPECIALLY Su-Metal, but also, you'd be struck with how kind these girls are. They were brought up to become role models and good people, even in the school where they learned how to become idols, they were taught at a very young age how to be good women. It is something I think that should be taught more often to be honest in this day and age. They really would make amazing role models for todays youth. Aside from all that, I loved watching your reaction to this video especially. I laughed when you said you're going to have very high expectations for this video since it was professionally filmed, and then we get to see BOTH of your jaws drop to the ground. I can only assume your expectations were at the very LEAST achieved, if not vastly surpassed based on the jaw droppings lol Anyhow, GREAT video, great reaction, and you got a subscribe from me from this video alone! :)

"they can probably go hard" - ha ha ha ha 🤣 No problems at all finding pro shot live Babymetal. Some significant problems getting those through copyright checks but plenty of people have. I prefer recent performances, even of old songs, but there are certainly some historical performances that are kind of must see. Lots of people will recommend performances from Legend 1997 and Budokan 2014 as those are pretty easy to get through copyright but most of Legend 1997 is not to a live band and Budokan limits crowd participation since it is all seating. People seem to be having good luck with the PIA Arena performances (Babymetal Begins Black/Clear Night) and I highly recommend Megitsune and Road of Resistance from those performances.

This is the classic thing, right? Fans tell you their band live is amazing and you say "yeah I don't know heard that before" and it's sometimes a little bit true, sometimes it's not... But with BABYMETAL there's no hyperbole in saying they're one of the best live bands on the planet. I can safely say from my own experience I know for a fact BABYMETAL belongs in that highly exclusive S tier category of live bands. The same Rammstein sits in for instance. If you want to sell BABYMETAL to someone, you have to show them live. That'll seal the deal faster than the song can end. And their story is also quite interesting. I'm sure you will have tons of fun discovering this band and all the J-metal bands that followed their lead. J-Rock/Metal is peak at the moment. Enjoy the ride! PS: great prediction as well. They can go hard and yes, their range is pretty huge. This is one of their slower/milder ones.

Terrific reaction guys. Thoughtful comments, seemed very genuine and honest-not always a given disappointingly. I was listening to your concerns about live concert footage and why you were wary of it. I had the biggest smile on my face 'cause I knew what was coming. Seeing the realization on your faces of how differently Babymetal concert videos are produced was a treat in itself. Babymetal don't do anything badly but their live performances-from their earliest days-are legendary. Babymetal has a long, complicated lore and history. I've noticed some of the real experts on Babymetal have already commented so you'll learn much more from them. I'd like to recommend one of Babymetal's beloved classics played on the night before this performance. It is wonderful, really gives the band a chance to shine and demonstrates again their incredible crowd interaction/control. It's "Megitsune" Live at PIA Arena, Black Night-it's only downside is Momo doesn't have a mic yet-but that's all part of the story you'll learn about. As you might have seen in the first video you watched they group was formed when the girls were in their early teens by music producer Key Kobayashi (known as Kobametal) at the Amuse talent agency, he had an idea to combine J-Pop with Metal. Babymetal was started as kind of a side project to the idol group Sakura Gakuin in 2010, which the girls where a part of at the time. They've evolved quite a bit since then, as this video clearly shows. They've done colaborations with lots of western artists, like Tom Morello of Rage against the Machine, Joakim Brodén of Sabaton, and Herman Li and Sam Totman from DragonForce. They can indeed go hard too, my favourite is probably "Rondo of Nightmare". There's a very good pro shot live video of it called "Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night". it also showcases the band that are not very frequently shown in other videos.

Now you need to see Karate and Doki Doki Morning (one of their first around 10 yrs ago I think) at Budokan 2021. Ans of course Headbanger and Resistance live!!!!

Karate was our first experience of Babymetal, loved it!

@Honestreactions9682 But you need to watch the live version from Budokan 2021. The crowd reactions just get better and better Bro! 😉👍🏾 From their younger days to now. I personally like their live performances much more than the music videos or original recordings. It's a whole new experience!

Good react. The most recent live videos have CC, so make sure you turn it on with any show from the PIA arena. Next react should be to Road of Resistance Live from Japan. It's just epic with multiple guitar solos from the Kami Band. kzbin.info/www/bejne/sIWoioh8nLGpm7ssi=yN6ZxJozLurhpq-k
