Formed in 2010. Their major debut single “ Ijme, dame, zettai" along with 2nd single “Megistune" both ranked in the Top 10 Oricon chart in Japan. In March 2014, they took to the stage of Nippon Budokan for a 2-Days gig making them the youngest female act to ever perform there. Their 1st studio album BAYBMETAL made it into the US Billboard chart. In summer of the same year, they embarked on their first World Tour, performing on the Main Stage at UK’s prodigious festival Sonisphere Festival 2014 in front of 65,000 festival goers, and supporting Lady Gaga on her “ArtRave: The Artpop Ball” 2014 Tour. In fall they were back for additional headline shows in Hammerstein Ballroom, New York City and O2 Academy Brixton, London. Idk what the lyrics mean, but as someone that listens to music of a few different languages, I find that the beauty of singing is that just the sound itself coming from one's mouth has the same effect as an instrument. So hard to believe I was 13 when I first discovered Babymetal through this song! I'm 23, almost 24 now and I'm still very much in love with their music even though their vocals have deepened and they've collabed with other bands. They're also the reason I've learned Japanese for so long, just so I could sing along to their music. They're amazing throughout the years and I really hope I can see them in concert one day to feel complete as a long-term fan. Thank you Babymetal for being so amazing!

I saw them yesterday for the first time as well in Amsterdam. Sadly, it was less than I'd hoped. But that was not really their fault. The audio was not set right. So the bass drowned out almost everything else. Which meant they had to really do their best to be audible over it, which was clearly a struggle. But the energy they brought was amazing.

In my honest opinion, this is one of he best metal songs of the 2010s. Something like this shouldn't work, but in this case it more than does. Super catchy, very melodic, phenomenal vocals, and a heavy breakdown. And the video is not only fun to watch, but very well produced and the choreography goes extremely well with the song. Anyone who doesn't see any of what I just said is just plain blind.

They were super popular, inescapable to hear about, etc. Just how on earth have people not heard about them until now? So... I watched a reactor "react" to "Gimme Chocolate" and was kind of taken aback by what I had witnessed. The song was overtly energetic and catchy, yet also somewhat cheesy. Thank you! No, it's quite all right, I'm well aware that I'm an "older guy" now. I think it's that the girls themselves remind of anime; they could easily be the heroic characters of an anime series. That sort of thing. Sorry to hear that so many people over 40 dislike the band, I can't see why! I have a number of friends of Facebook that like Babymetal, including my brother, who is a professor of music at a Florida university. "Megitsune" is probably Babymetal's strongest song in both musical composition and lyrical meaning. The depths of the words of this song, so beautiful assembled and with total purpose and intent is really impressive. This is not a shallow, gimmicky group merely based in making money. Babymetal has a real and meaningful message to the world and they spread that so very well.
