Metal Kingdom serves both as the opener for the new album The Other One, and for the live concert where this was filmed at Makuhari Messe in January this year. It's a rousing call to arms to rally the faithful to Babymetal's banner as they go to battle once more after nearly two years of silence. There were actually three thrones at the concert that are modeled on the Iron Throne, except these ones have hands holding katanas and hands doing the fox sign, rather than just swords, and the arms of the throne are foxes. So its reminiscent of the Iron Throne, but its been changed to suit Babymetal's culture and iconography. When the show opened, the massive doors with the fox heads on them opened, and effects smoke and white light poured out, then the thrones rolled foward, with Su and Moa sitting on two of them, and the third one was empty, because at the time, Momoko had not yet officially become Momometal.

I am embarrassed to admit, that when I first saw the Metal Kingdom performance, I thought it would only work with all the theatrics. I have now seen the videos of this performance on their world tour this year. WOW!!!! How could I ever have doubted the power of Su-Metal and the Kami band. 🖖❤

Thanks again from Japan 有難う💛。 I did witness this very performance at the venue😍. This video is from Makuhari shows on Jan.28 /29 this year. You saw one octagonal movable / elevatable stage but actually there were two identical stages for more surprising production. Several drones with camera were flying around all over the venue. Once this opening song by Su and Moa got started, I had goosebumps all over my body. The show was held after the almost 2-year long hiatus after all. Seriously many of audience were moved to tears and/or dropped their jaws when the gigantic fox wall opened and the thrones came out. Yeah! I chanted all through the song. ♪ Oh oh oh o o o ♪. What a happy experience!! The Kami band was playing on the east stage that was not captured in this video. You noticed THREE thrones. Yeah! After this opening with stateliness, 3 girls performed 12 songs with Momoko Avenger, who finally became official 3rd member Momometal 2 months thereafter.

Great reaction. 'Metal Kingdom' is the first song on their latest album, so of course they used it for the epic theatrical opening number at their concerts at the end of January where this was filmed - their first live concerts in nearly 2 years. The thrones (you did well to spot they have 3 of them) made with swords and hands showing the Kitsune (Fox sign🦊) probably are inspired by Game of Thrones - but these are even bigger and better ... at the start of the concert a couple of huge fox gates opened and the girls appeared seated on the thrones. This is an anthemic opening number of course. You are no different to the rest of us, we all NEED more BABYMETAL constantly.🤘🦊🤘

Where it sort of looks like the Iron Throne it’s actually in the differences that make it awesome. The Iron Throne was made of defeated foes swords, the sword here are all are being held up by a hand “Raise your sword to the sky”, and then hands making the fox symbol around the back of the seat. I’m assuming the imagery of it is Queen Su surrounded by her Metal army.

II believe I know the guy who always recommends expecting the unexpected., hahaha... 😁 This was the unexpected opening number of their first show after the hiatus held at Makuhari Messe in late January 2023. They even flew drones in a crowded venue, which I still consider dangerous but the drone footage is crazy good. Best idea ever!

Apparently the pilot who was controlling the drone at Makuhari is a world champion drone racer, so they had the best pilot you can get for something like that. I was at Makuhari, and we were joking in the crowd that they better not screw up and crash into anything or anyone.

Before this live performance began, the BABMETAL resurrection ceremony took place: ten apostles emerged from the METALVERSE, opening the closed doors of the FOX GATE and revealing three thrones from within. SU and MOA were seated on the thrones, and since the three stars flew away at the end of the music video when they were sealed in the METALVERSE, it is assumed that the other seat was YUI's seat. Nice one, eh! The song makes you think of a grand, epic tale, rallying the troops right before the big fight scene! I have a suggestion for you. The thrones were made out of arms with hands showing the horns, the ladies were carrying giant tuning forks. The larger the fork, the lower the sound it makes. But it still can pick up the frequency of the other. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHupZHSqZt16g8k

The "tuning forks" are probably an homage to the Spear of Longinus in the anime Evangelion, which is itself named after the spear (also called the Spear of Destiny) allegedly used to pierce Jesus's side to make sure he was dead on the cross before taking him down to entomb him.
