Nice reaction. As @rickwagner said, the instrumentalists are the Kami Band - kami means god or spirit so they are the gods of guitar, bass and drums summoned from the dead to support BABYMETAL. That is also why they have the corpse face paint and traditional white burial robes. Su-metal was only 16 at this concert (in March 2014), yet she followed that incredible introduction and took over the whole arena on her little platform high above the stage. The song is about a recurring nightmare, Su (or the girl in the song) is being chased through the dark by something she can't see until she accepts there is no way out and asks whatever has been chasing her to show itself to her before she dies.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 BABYMETAL’s live musicians are the Kami Band. “kami” is the Japanese word for a “god” or “spirit”. The name of the instrumental intro they played is ‘Mischief of the Metal Gods”. Yes, the song title is ‘Rondo of Nightmare’ Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto) has two solo songs on each of the first two BABYMETAL albums.

It also is the word for hair. Deity band, spirit band or hair band, it all works.

The time signature of this song is very complex ranging from 4,3 6,4, 7,5, back to 4,3 with su-metal singing what is essentially a waltz over the top . Not only is this song high impact it is musically a masterpiece. The band is the kami band , some of the best in the business, with su-metal upstaging them.

Nice reaction. I got to see Babymetal last year. It was a much smaller venue than this and they still put on an amazing show. Their stage band known around the world as the Kamiband got their moment to shine with the intro called the "Mischief of the gods". Each kamiband member representing the god of that instrument. Some of the best players of all the land. And then we get Su-metal rising above it all as her voice can lead the way through the darkest night. To date this has to be the darkest song lyrically by Babymetal. There's nothing really Kawaii about it. As the song really is about a recurring nightmare. Which is why the song ends with a sudden stop. Because they woke up from the nightmare. Or did she? That's up to the listener. Babymetal likes to write their songs that way. Enjoy the journey through the foxhole and into the Babymetal galaxy of music.
