2NE1 was still an active YG group when the members of Blackpink were still YG trainees. 2NE1 debuted in 2009. Jennie became a YG trainee in 2010. Lisa and Jisoo became YG trainees in 2011. Rosé became a YG trainee in 2012. The last album 2NE1 released was in 2014 and they officially disbanded in 2016. Blackpink debuted in 2016. Ruka, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, and Rora became YG trainees in 2018. Pharita became a YG trainee in 2020. Chiquita became a YG trainee in 2021. Babymonster debuted as OT6 in 2023 and OT7 in 2024. YG Entertainment and YG Japan are curently auditioning for new trainees for the next YG girl group.

Ah, Lee Suhyun AKMU also renowned as one of the best female vocalist in korea. She won Best Female Vocalist award in 2019 and had been participated as a judge in a band survival program called superband along with Linkin Park's member Joe Hahn. That's why YG ask her to join as one of the judge in Babymonster training program

The members used to call Asa as Kim Asa because she is very fluent in Korean. Kim is a Korean surname, but she is japanese, I think that's the joke about. I don't know how good she is because I'm not Korean, but it seems like everyone has been talking about how good her pronunciation and accent are, when she speaks and raps in Korean.

I asked Koreans a few times in comments about how fluent BM foreign members are in Korean, and they said that the Japanese line is really good in Korean and their pronunciation is great, no Japanese accent.

It is clear Ahyeon, Ruka, Asa trained for the last 5 years, Pharita for 2 years and Chiquita a year plus mainly as hip hop rap artists with the occasional High notes for colour. This was especially so for Ahyeon and Pharits whose throats were hurting reaching for those High notes. The switch up to vocalists with the higher range really occurred in this final evaluation series for Ahyeon and Pharita.

For context, like Blackpink, these girls auditioned individually to become part of YG training program. By this time, they already been trainees for 1-4 years. This show was when YG decided to have their TOP 7 trainees to go thru a Last Evaluation process to choose the members of Baby Monster.

I still have a feeling that all of this was staged, and YG knew from the start that BM is gonna debut as 7. During members introduction videos we also can see that when introduction videos were filmed, there were much more trainees whose face was blurred, so maybe at first they were planning to film survival show but then just decided to pick 7 members and make this show just to attract fans.

@@meganyamk172 Nah. Most of their monthly evaluations were filmed thru the years. Thats where some of these clips with blurred faces were taken. And some clips were from the girls personal videos like birthdays. I think this is legit. Even the supposedly 5- member Baby Monster is true. YG was really thinking of 5 members. Not 7. Blackpink were supposed to debut as "Baby Monster". They were 5 then. The other one, went to debut in another Kpop group, G-Idle.

In fact, they just have a few names chosen for their future groups and just give them one (in Blackpink case they were first going for PinkPunk or Babymonster, but then they decided on Blackpink). Also, Blackpink was supposed to debut as a 9, but then YG decided to debut the members who were closest to each other. By then, Miyeon had already left the agency. It was her decision. Now about filming BM evaluations... If those trainees weren't picked for filming evaluation show, then why were they filmed during members introduction videos? They still were training with other BM members, and probably YG was filming those trainees itroduction videos too, but then decided to remove them and continue filming evaluations with 7 members. About 5 members, maybe you're right, but that still doesn't change the fact that when introduction videos were filmed there were other trainees who were still in agency and probably were participating in filming and this whole show probably was supposed to be more global (with more participants). Also, some of the videos where there are trainees with blurred faces were filmed when Chiquita already had blond hair and she was already 13, so it was right before evaluations started.

Its not like you stop and let go of all your trainees because you already have chosen your top picks to debut. There are still other trainees. As YG said, "Rora could be the main vocalist of the next group after Baby Monster."

So where will we get these clips? of course from filmed monthly evaluations and from the girls personal videos (phones). Then in those clips, we have to blur-out the faces of other trainees obviously. I think its all that.

People believed that because: 1. The timelines of what occurred and what was presented to the public does not match up. 2. Since 2nd gen, Papa YG has a history of lying to trainees on reality shows. He tells them the group will only be X amount of members, but in the end all of them get in. He does this as a means to motivate the trainees to give it their all during the reality show evaluations. 3. The general public hates or dislikes Papa YG, so he willingly plays the villain role in every reality show he is on.

Actually most of them are good with English. They have an online fansign event in the past few weeks and most fans actually spoke to them in English, and most of the members spoke to the fans in English as well and they can understand what the fans are saying.

These 2 girls, Ahyeon and Pharita, have got praised for good vocal control and stable especially when they sang low registered notes. It shows how good live vocal quality they are since they're still trainees. And Ahyeon did confirm her good singing techniques when she performed, riff increase and backing harmonization, as Yang said, too. There were not the feedback for Ruka to see in the episode, I think she performed as good and cool as the judges expected. She has specific YG colored rapping quality already.

I believe that Ahyeon sang a lower tone so that there is a contrast with Pharita, making the whole song more pleasant to listen to. Ahyeon voice is naturally high and she puts herself at risk by singing low. That is why Lee Suhyun said that Ahyeon can be a team player.

From what I’ve seen Pharita has the best English by far.. Ahyeon second. But she still doesn’t say things perfectly. She might now though this is filmed probably over a year ago. Chiquita seems pretty good. All the other girls sing in English but you don’t really hear them say more then a few words speaking. Have to wait till they get an interview from someone speaking English.

I was more talking about speaking. The few times you hear her speak she says things a bit wrong. But her english is a million times better than my Korean. We will just have to wait for an English interview. Probably won’t be long as they have tour dates already outside Korea. Only in Asia but they probably won’t be speaking Korean.
