In Pharita's name, the "Ph" is pronounced as a p, so it's really Parita. Her family spelled it as "Parita" on one of the balloons on her birthday in her introduction.

Ruka is always a standout. She hits hard. I actually look forward to Ruka as she has a golden rap tone that brings in a beat and flow change to any song. I am from New Zealand and her English pronunciation sounds on point. She is spitting quite fast.

Thanks for the great reaction. I enjoy seeing the response of people like you who enjoy the music and care about the performers. I definitely recommend reacting to Blackpink "Stay" before you see the Baemon version. Also, if you haven't heard or reacted to Blackpink "Don't Know What To Do", you should check it out before you continue. I wanted to give a word about the process we are watching so as to minimize your confusion going forward. Basically, the group is given a "mission" by the producers, which lasts one month. This first mission we see is the "Blackpink" mission. This mission has a vocal performance and a dance performance. So, for the month, the group practices and then is evaluated by the producers and seniors from the company. The first three episodes, up through the dance performance, all take place at the same time and this will be true for the next mission also, where multiple episodes cover different parts of that evaluation. The deal is, while they are trainees, they usually are evaluated every month on vocal and dance performances, some solo and some duo or group. They spend the whole month training both with instructors and solo to prepare fornthe end-of-month evaluations. During this time, they also take classes in languages (Korean, English, Chinese, Japanese, Spanish, etc.) and in music arts (voice, instruments, production tools, dance), and if they are underage, they also go to school. They get one day off every two weeks. The YG kids have it good though with nice dorms, an excellent cafeteria (the trainees get basic meals and some spending money), a convenience store, physical trainers on site (pilates, yoga, gym, sauna), and lots of other amenities. Some other company trainees (or even old days YG) didn't have nearly as good of facilities to learn and live in

Thank you so much for the break down ! I kept getting confused as I was watching this on what the process was and how the evaluations went. You helped me understand so much better. I’m glad I read your comment before I react to the last 4 episodes !

Ruka at this point also has braces which made it more difficult for English pronunciations. When you hear her speak Korean or Japanese it is a little better but there is some things that she does have pronunciation issues. "Stay" is one of the most underrated/underappreciated songs from BALCKPINK. While YG doesn't have Jennie as writing lyrics for the song, it was brought up I believe in "Light up the Sky" and was the reason that I believe it was their performance in Japan that Jennie actually cried on stage. She said something like it reminded her of all of the hard times they went through and some of the other trainees that never got to make it to where BLACKPINK was at the time. Also, they are going up against each other but it is more like they are going up against themselves. YG's monthly evaluations consist of three stages: one solo song, one group song, and one group dance. So what you are seeing right now is just one month evaluation. The BLACKPINK mission happened in April 2022 so everything that you see with these two group performances and the upcoming group dance is done all in the same month. Most of the trainees are also still going to school which I would have thought that they would have had in-house tutors but it seems that most of them are still attending school. The criticism that they receive is not to bring them down but to actually build them up because it prepares them how to receive it and improve but it also get them prepared for the criticisms that they will get from the internet. There is also a reason that Jennie gave the advice that she did. It is their drive and determination that will get them through the trainee program. Jennie saw many trainees that dropped out because of the pressure of the trainee program when she was a trainee. Like Jennie said that they weren't the best dancers or singers but they all had a dream (like the pre-debut song) that they never let go and the reason that they are where they are today.

One thing i guess i kinda had to realise, YG isn't an English speaking company, so they don't really care THAT much about pronunciation, as that is something i care about way too much and why i struggle to get into other K-pop groups other the BlackPink. Sure, you'll get bonus points for having great pronunciation as they are looking for a global reach (most likely), but you won't be deducted for not having it. They care much more about their foreign trainee's Korean pronunciation, not their English. It seems that buzz words like, presence, style, etc are very important for them. YG seemingly cares more about the experience of the performance, not the perfection of it. Which is why i guess why many may argue on who is the "best" k-pop group, most agree that YG artists are the best live performers, in general looking at each company.

In a kpop group, the ideal numbers are odd numbers. That way, even if they stand in a straight line, you will automatically have a central person. Since YG said that it will not be a 7 member group, then it should be 5.
