I made one of these a couple of Christmases ago just to see how easy it would be. I have to admit that I made a couple of errors before I got it right and it was adorable. However, one thing that I didn't like was the space between the front cover and the pad itself. For the next one I make, I'm thinking that I'll put a clear pocket inside the front cover that has a little expandability so that eventually that gap will be filled.

I don't like the gap either but, for this type of pen to fit it has to be there :) You could always adjust it to fit another style of pen though :)

Like the refillable factor!! Am planning to give a couple of the pads for Christmas gifts but with Art Impressions girlfriends stamps that I'll watercolor but may make a couple using the Mickey Mouse paint sample pieces I picked up from Home Depot. Love the matching paper in the pen too. Thanks!!

Have you ever put a pocket on inside left cover so one can place sheets of the paper? Think I'll have to figure out how to do that. Do u think I'd need to cut the outside cover just a tad bit larger? Thanks so much for changing my plans for gifts. 😘

+Pat Cyzauskas I have made a pocket for the inside cover and I didn't make the outside any bigger. I did it on one that I gave to my mom :) Not sure if I made it so the paper could fit inside though. Just made sure the pocket would fit the size of the inside cover.

Thanks! The Lacey Ovals die is by Spellbinders. It is one of their Nestabilities sets. That is why you won't find it in the catalog :)

I would like to make one ☝️ what are the measurements of your legal pad? Mine is 5 &6/8 and 8&3/8 So I think it's larger then yours. And I can't figure out what I am doing wrong.

What is the white oval Spellbinders Oval small or large

The white oval is actually cut using my cricut. I cut them out at 3 1/2 inches using just a basic oval shape from my Plantin School Book cartridge
