Less than an hour from the Belize border, in the far south of Mexico, there is a gem to be found.

When we were in Bacalar and at Los Rapids we respected the amazing stromatolites and stayed totally away from them. You should have done the same thing.

this video is so cool, I had no idea there were freshwater stromatolites, I thought they were all salt water, and they look so much different than salt water, salt water are about the size and shape of a medium beach ball or so mushroom shaped, roundish.. these are very different, so cool, ancient lake bed to say the least, the paleozoic era was some crazy life on the planet, wooly mammoths, and snakes in S america the size of school buses, no jokes..
