Thank you, Netherlands Bach Society for posting this today! I am a horn player in North America and wanted to give a warm congratulations to both: Bart Aerbeydt and Milo Maestri on the Corno da Caccia parts. These truly remarkable musicians have given me so much inspiration on Thanksgiving Day. Thank you so much for all that you do and I admire you all very much for your gifts, dedication, and service. Everyone sounded absolutely sublime! I have been waiting for this for a long time, (where I would check periodically for this masterwork from you!) 💗 Lucia, Bojan, Siebe, Rodrigo, Benny, and the entire ensemble all are such highly skillful artists. I've never heard it better on this particular work, truly! Kind regards.

Soli Deo Gloria !! ... Finally, also Brandenburg #1 is online: "All of Brandenburg" is a fact, WOW !! ... Thank you Dutch Bach Society, what a treat ... There are not that many Bach pieces in which the master shows his surprisingly good sense of humor but this is one of them, especially the first movement: at times, the horns are just playing their signature hunting signals in broken major chords, purposefully interfering with the rest of the ensemble, like a bunch of naughty schoolboys (which the great master had to deal with almost every day as long-time Kantor of the Thomasschule, which provided the choristers for the services at St. Thomas´ Church in Leipzig) ... And only seconds later, they harmonically comply with their colleagues by playing fiendishly difficult parts, especially considering the fact that unlike today, horns in those times had no valves and every intonation and detail was achieved by embouchure (lip-tension), with the only slight help of the right hand in the resonator for subtle nuances in the instrument´s sound ... Moreover, it is surprising that in this piece, only two horns suffice to achieve the richness in horn-typical sonority that in later works we are used to expect from no less than three or even four horns ... Also, I am convinced that the part starting at 17:05 musically paints a duck hunt, with the hunting horns scaring the ducks off into flight and the oboes imitating their quacking as ducks do when taking off ... Altogether, I believe Bach intended Brandenburg #1 as a musical parody of hunting scenes which may very well have pleased his aristocratic benefactors ... On a slightly more personal note: I, my sister and my two brothers will forever associate this music with fairy tales: some genious producer had the brilliant idea of using all six Brandenburgs as musical backdrop for several vinyl LPs with the most famous Grimm and Andersen stories ... I believe Brandenburg #1 was the musical scenery for Hänsel and Gretel ... Be that as it may, I cannot possibly think of a more delightful way to introduce this heavenly music to even the youngest listeners, it will accompany and comfort them for the rest of their lives ...
