Because he had to do so? Every sunday a new cantata. Still unbelievable with a family and all daily circumstances. Maybe because he dedicated all his music to God? We can only say: He was not lazy at all!

To sing along with the chorales (first and last movements): 1. Ach wie flüchtig, ach wie nichtig 1. Oh how fleeting, how defeating Ist der Menschen Leben! Is our earthly being! Wie ein NEBEL bald entstehet, Like a mist that rises thickly Und bald wiederum vergehet, And dissolves again as quickly So ist unser LEBEN, sehet! So our lives end just as swiftly. 13. Ach wie flüchtig, ach wie nichtig 13. Oh how fleeting, how defeating, Sind der Menschen Sachen! Is our earthly labor! Alles, alles was wir sehen, Everything that we are seeing, Das muß fallen und vergehen, Will one day be disappearing; Wer Gott fürcht, bleibt ewig stehen. Those who trust God, nothing fearing. This is italian music (has me) and italian music must be performed in italian style. The italian (baroque) style is full of impression, feeling, fantasy and, why not, crazy exactly has italian people is. This, my personal opinion, is a great performance with right attitude. Sometime a little much "diminutioni" but, why not? The "largo" in the second movement is a little much "allegro". The Vivaldi's text in the head of this piece write: "A passar al fuoco i di lieti e contenti, mentre la pioggia fuor bagna ben cento" that's mean " to pass the happy and contented ones to the fire while the rain outside wets a hundred of them" and, for me, it's to fast, without taking anything away from the truly extraordinary execution.
Under each of out videos you can find a link to our website with all the credits. In addition we also have several videos with the different musicians about their instruments and how they play Bach. Hope this helps!

Thank you Shunske Sato for your occasional direction of this group! Being an organist I really love the Cantata's that bore the idea of the big organ Choral Preludes and this is certainly one of them. I especailly loved the Arie "So schnell" and the tenor that made the whole thing so musical and unforced.

Waving at Mr Sato. The Society's notes on second movement, the tenor aria: _"(...) The musical line is filled with lengthy melismas, series of notes to one syllable, which are supposed to express the fleeting nature of life. Near the end, Bach, master of the musical trick, even lets us get rather impatient: the many repeats and the return of the ritornello could easily get on your nerves."_ Alright, this movement is required to make the point, but good grief, it gets truly annoying: _"So schne-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-he-hell."_ Like choral parodies by Peter Ustinov. As for the text. I believe that Michael Franck, the baker from Coburg must have had a pure mind. Though after centuries of hypocrisy and deception carried out by the establishment, Franck's words seem to have drifted towards sarcasm, if not irrelevance.

You're right on the mark with the 'parody' comment - this feeling could have been relieved if the tempo were relaxed just a little. This is the audible difference between 'urgent' and 'frenetic'. However, I prefer the musical parodies of Professor Peter Schickele to those of Peter U.

Hate to disagree with the consensus, but this is a poor recording. I love attending live performances in period appropriate venues like this cathedral, but the acoustics of stone walls are terrible for recording.
