The Brandenburg Concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach (BWV 1046-1051, original title: Six Concerts à plusieurs instruments) are a collection of six instrumental works presented by Bach to Christian Ludwig, Margrave of Brandenburg-Schwedt, in 1721. They are widely regarded as some of the best orchestral compositions of the Baroque era.

I didn't know this aphorism until now. Kind of true for me. But it depends on the listener. In general I believe that no human being can nor will "understand" this universe. Maybe we get a glimpse of the physical structur but never of the sence.

@@AvntXardE I generally agree with your statement! ;-) I am a semi-professional musician/composer and MD for over 40 years, mainly in Rock/Pop/Jazz projects. Listening to the great classical music made clear to me, that the basics of our popular music today was formed a long time ago. Me and most of my fellow musicians especially appreciate the works of J.S. Bach. He's probably one of the most influential and inspiring musians in history and on modern music.

Johann Sebastian Bach (1685-1750) was a great and gifted German Baroque composer, musician and church organist. Bach's 'Brandenburg Concertos Nos 1 to 6' are all beautiful and magnificent! What a sublime and mesmerizing masterpiece, beautifully intricate and flowing with grace, magic and perfection. This music is of such surpassing brilliance and beauty that it will resonate for centuries to come, with undiminished serenity and poignancy, all while invariably giving rise to this amazingly euphoric sensation of nostalgic rapture, and endearing love. For such music, in all its preeminent glory and greatness, cannot be surpassed anywhere in the vast and limitless cosmos, wonderfully elevating and ennobling as it has always been and will always be. Soothingly dazzling and of this seamless and divine magnificence, this piece of classical music could easily serve as the chosen and venerated classical theme music of the universe. Bach was, and still is, Godlike, as his name alone is synonymous with all that is ethereally inspired, deeply moving, philosophically rousing and eternally brilliant, as this priceless and spectacular masterpiece most certainly is.

So let me explain my interpretation and you my fellow commenters will tell me what you think about it. I think It's fair to say that beautiful music such as this piece by Bach can be accurately described as possibly the purest form of art, having profound effects on the soul in the deepest sense. Despite all the technological progress we still don't exactly know how human consciousness can react so emotionally to audio stimuli in form of music and It's not obvious to me at all we will ever know for certain. I would claim that part of the puzzle is structure of it - good music has to have both repetition, certain predictability but simultaneously it cannot remain constant, it needs to change and evolve in a sense throughout the piece otherwise it becomes stale, boring - thus a song has to oscillate in a zone between order and chaos for us to truly enjoy it. That is unless you are drugged out of your mind jumping up and down in one of those raves where post-modernists substitute music for sounds that more resemble machine working than a work of art. Of course these so-called-free thinkers of the progressive, modern age would claim that it's all subjective and their music is in no way of lesser quality than say, classical music. Comparing the the two types reminds me of the story of Cain and Able where [....]

Oh, I don't know - he had like 20 kids, many of whom survived. I would think that would be some source of contentment - BUT, more importantly, - he managed to WRITE DOWN, by hand, an amazingly large amount of his music (shitpile?) much of which has survived to this day. I think even he realized that he was writing good stuff. So for both us and him, his real legacy is his music preserved. I'm sure he was happy and proud.
