Mischa is still the king. So much feeling and passion. Classical music makes most pretentious... but for the few it makes them wild and free - allowing interpretation like this. Lovely.

Sometimes a 'like' just isn't enough. Misha makes our being vibrate and we have to attempt to return the favor. Thank you Sir. The virtuosity, the humanity you gifted us. I watched other versions of the extraordinary Suite by you. The first movement was faster than my 'favorite' . Maybe quarantine made you wish to speed things up and you handled it beautifully. I'd have a lot more to say but leave room for the next grateful admirer.

Mischa Maisky Bach Celo prelude first record is my favorite music of all time. I listen it so much during all my life and willl listen it lot more again. He is a master in his art. Merci Monsieur Maisky pour toutes ces fabuleuses raisonances que votre musique ont crées dans ma vie. But if I have to confess, this Confinment version is too speed to me, it like Yo-yo-ma version, it doesn't let us breath and it's a pitty. As a Master, find the truth when reaching the speedest way to play a music you have to go back at the emotional speed when the music speak to people's heart and mind. And it's why ,I think , your first shot was so perfect even if it's not as speed as the masters of the art. Youre the real master of this song to my heart and for ever. Thank you a billion time M. Maisky
@Lemonpopz3 жыл бұрын
I didn't want to say it, but over the last 8 months I've come back to this version several times just to give it another shot, and I agree with Richard here, the one that made that first one so great was the emotion. You could feel Maisky's soul pouring into it, it was sad, lifting, moving, inspiring. It takes you somewhere. I in no way could ever put down the talent he has, nor ever match the skill, but I do hope someday to hear something quite as emotionally impactful again. The previous recording was literally what inspired my love for classical music, that one single piece, and not just any version. Maisky's specifically. And in all the years since then, I have never found a performance that reaches into your soul and grabs you by the heart quite like the original performance most of us have seen. Its likely an impossible act to follow, but I would love love love to hear it once more before I die. One more performance that hits 11 on the scale, and this is the man to do it in my eyes.

I agree with you both on the tempo i was chasing the music with my breath but I'm trying to understand this rendition. After more than 30 yrs from the first recording, there must be a reason, some wisdom perhaps for the shift.

Dear Mischa, you're my favorite Cellist, first time a I saw your performance of suite No 1 was 11 years ago. I'm 29 now, I might be to old to learn how to play, but you've encouraged me to learn how to play... I don't know how long it'll take me, but once I'm able to play this suite I'll Say: thanks to Mischa Maisky.

You inspire me to no end, Mr. Maisky! It was your 1984 recording of the suites that ultimately drove me to learn the cello. I was sadly born too late to ever meet Slava or attend his performances, but I hope I can someday meet you, or at least hear you play in person. Stay healthy, my friend.

Google says that critics think that style of playing Bach is a bit controversial. I don't understand why they think so, I am not a musician. But for me, just a regular man.. This is uncontrversially beautiful. The music just dances, these movement are dances. In so many other interpretations I don't feel the dance. Thank you for doing what you do.
@heneedssummilk423 жыл бұрын
Hello there, I think they find it controversial because it is claimed that Mr. Maisky plays it in a romantic way rather than baroque style. I honestly think theres nothing wrong with it. People should express themselves how they want to. I love his interpretations as well as other interpretations.

You are a saint on and off the cello, I watch the behind the scenes type videos of you on youtube and I just think you're a wonderful human being.
