Hello Stelun56, I am so touched to read your meaningful and powerful words. Thank you for your generous acknowledgements which I deeply appreciate. 🙏 I agree, these are sublime works. I have found that each invention has its own unique character and essence. Though making the analysis and lesson is a very labor intensive process, seeing the layers and finer points emerge always fills me with a profound reverence for Bach’s genius. With very best wishes to you.

@@SallyChristianMusic I'll keep the # 7 in mind. Did tell you before that I was a piano tuner. I started with an adult beginner book at age 20. Only had a teacher for less than 2 years. I wanted to play all 24 Chopin etudes and memorized 12 before my family karma kicked in. Then most of the last 50 years I did not have a piano. Now I am going for it again after spurts the last 12 years. My finger dexterity is still OK at almost 85. Your accomplished piano expertise is fantastic and I look to hear you share more with us. Aloha from paradise. Alton

Hi Sally. I have recently been binge watching your latest tutorial videos. Thank you so much for producing them. Your skill level is extraordinary. The passion you bring to each piece always inspires me to appreciate each measure or passage of whatever piece I am working on to a much greater degree. I see what you mean when you describe learning a piece as making a friend for life. It is nice to take your time in learning the material, let the measures breathe and sink in over time. It might take a month, year or longer, but it is the journey along the way that is so rewarding. On a side note, have you ever considered a Scott Joplin piece? I think you would have a ball and your viewers would love it. --Mark

Hello Las Vegas Guitar / Mark, thank you for your extraordinarily wonderful comment! Your words are powerful, and will surely be an inspiration and reminder just how deeply satisfying immersing ourselves in this music can be! It is my pleasure to make these tutorials, and while they are labors of love, they are inspired by my passion for the music and desire to help others to better understand the many elements and layers within these pieces. Your generous acknowledgement means a great deal to me, and I thank you heartily! On another note, I will definitely keep in mind doing some Scott Joplin. Ragtime is a departure from the classical music I have concentrated on, but could be a delightful excursion! Sending all best wishes to you and with your music!

Truly enjoyed your interospective survey of this short work, amazing detail insights. Btw the theme is also recognizable as c# minor prelude from WTC. Thank you.

Hello Culturehorse, thank you for your generous and much appreciated words about this lesson! Also, thank you for pointing out that the opening 6 notes of this theme are identical to the opening theme of the C# minor Prelude WTC I. Bach loved this descending 5-finger pattern with the minor 3rd turn at the end and indeed used it again! The character of an inward lament is also apparent in both of these works! Thank you for your insights, and very best wishes to you!

@@culturehorse The piano in this video is a Bösendorfer Imperial. It is in my downstairs teaching studio. The Steinway you have seen me play in some of the performance videos (the complete Iberia and both versions of the complete Rachmaninoff Preludes Op. 32) is in my upstairs living room. I still have the Steinway, and play it for home concerts, student recitals, and some video recordings. I very much appreciate having these beautiful instruments to practice and play!

Hi Gina, thank you for your wonderful, kind, and thoughtful words! I love hearing that these tutorials are giving you a deeper understanding of the inventions! 🙏 I also agree that it's never too late to relearn them! Yes, you are right, those four notes around 17:40 are exactly the notes of the Dies Irea! That's a great observation, and applies to the character of this piece. :-)

Dear Sally, magic, magic and just magic. And this happens, like all the pianists I have heard live, only after about thirty bars, as if Bach's phrasing kidnaps you and drags you with it. To change the subject. I read a beautiful book, -The Unsuccessful - by Thomas Bernhard. An even more window to get to know Glen Gould
