Isn't it? One of the loveliest and most original of all Bach's opening choruses in the cantatas. The two oboes d'amore are exquisite - Rilling has such a good team. And Huttenlocher makes the bass aria seem easy.

Que hermosura! Para los brutos como yo, comprender esta música es quedarse a escuchar por más que no comprenda, ni el idioma, ni el estilo, ni la orgánica, ni el porque de los timbres. Implica amansar la voluntad a la música pura que no trae caramelos ni chicharrones, más contiene el misterio de encontrarse espiritualmente y gozar con otro sentido, no el del entendimiento, sino el sentido de la música que habita en nosotros. Si existiese lo supremamente humano creo que Bach cómo el canto gregoriano se acercan como ninguno al regazo de Dios.

I saw a comment elsewhere that the 1st movement was too? austere. When one considers John 3-16 on which the libretto is based, we see that the starting point is our hopeless human situation in the aftermath of the fall from God's grace. The rest of the cantata is more cheerful since God's grace is so amazing & wipes our slate clean! (Tabula rasa) Soli Deo gloria.

OOps was thinking of BWV 67, bt this also applies to this cantata. MY LOOse translation of the title: 'God, why are you letting me suffer so much?' Like Job, Bach doesn't question that suffering is part of our lot as humans, but sees it rather as God's teaching (highly effective) since we rember learning that derives from difficulty much better! peter heiman It might not be the uploader themselves, it might the fact that the music is copyrighted. It might be the case that the uploader has no choice but to allow the ads or else the video would be taken down by whomever holds the copyright to the music.

Ich habe vor ,alle Bachwerke zu hören, bwv 1- 250 jeden Tag EIN Bwv, ab Bwv 251 nach einem anderen Modus.Heute also Bwv 3! Aber ich liebe auch die alten Meister der Polyphonie,Monteverdi ,di Palestrina,di Lasso,Byrd,Tallis etc.,aber auch Scheidt,Schein,Schütz, Prätorius,Hammerschmidt, Buxtehude ,Pachelbel,Böhm, Sweelinck,Zelenka etc.So bin ich also ÖKUMENISCHER Musikfreund...

Do you mean that all Helmut Rilling's recordings sound the same? Or that all recordings of BWV 3 sound the same? Because if you mean that all the Bach Cantatas sound the same, the inanity of that comment earns you a place in the deepest netherworld of KZbin comments.
