The prelude is just so good. The album version is at faster tempo and he brings so much out of the music.. truly a master of Bach this guy.

I don't mind that I'm never likely to play this well (Won't stop me trying) It does get to me that he seems to be having a great time playing it.

It just looks so simple, when I play it, so hard to go this fast…

It isnt fast...Schiff plays it rather slowly.

The prelude looks SO easy on paper.... Then try playing it 🤦

@@supersoggycheese It's very difficult to make every single notes being clearly delivered. I think this song is even more difficult than Fantasie Impromptu.

If you play this with heavier hands (sorry) you get a jive. It is well possible that Bach was inspired by the giga rythms that originated Jive as dance and rock and roll as a music. Aimez vous danser? Mademoiselle, m'accorderiez vous cette danse? Elvis is dead and he was a kind and good man. He took something in the public domain. But those of today who do the same are not as well intentionated has he was. Nevertheless, Castigando ut risus moriis a paedant society very proud of herself while Bach was great and also is Mr Andras Schiff: gratefulness. My source: JSBach, Clavier Buchlein fur Wilhelm Friedrich Bach, 1720, herausgegeben von Christoph Wolff, Ed Peters Leipzig usw, fsg 2021. pps 24-25. Gratefulness to all these very grand persons.

There's no reason to play it so fast, except that he can. I prefer it slower.

Some others go even faster which I didn’t like it😮
@Zephyrus477 ай бұрын
@@chenxie3185 It's just like with the C minor prelude. Some people love playing it super fast, ignoring the hidden musical aspect simply because it's cool. Sometimes I'd play it super fast. Its fun, but I still prefer a slower tempo with a more delicate touch

Je pense qu'il a joué le prélude avec un très bon tempo. Mais c'est vrai que la fugue était un peu rapide.
@kristinasaerАй бұрын
I don't think it's fast he plays it in tempo Andante (the prelude) around 108bpm.

Schiff be like “Eh, you went back to Czerny. I don’t like Czerny, but I like Schubert.” Despite the fugue not being my favourite, I don’t think it’s necessary to call it pathetic.

Not being able to spell the word "fugue" correctly is a sure sign of a top-notch music critic. If you've ever studied 18th-century counterpoint or actually written a fugue yourself, you might rethink that statement. As for the performance, Schiff does a fine job. I personally prefer Víkingur Ólafsson's faster prelude and slower fugue, but it's just a matter of taste.
