This is stunningly beautiful and by splitting it into segments which click together and then part you again make it easy for musical illiterates such as myself to see what Bach was doing (which is amazing in itself).

Another amazing visualisation! A perfect balance between making musical structures visible, yet having visual surprises. Would Bach have liked it? Yes, but perhaps he would have felt like a magician whose tricks are now on public display.

I remember a story about Bach where he listened to the beginning of a fugue a fellow musician had composed, and started telling the people around him how he predicted the fugue would develop, based on the compositional opportunities the subject offered, and then laughed with pleasure when he was shown to be right. So, I imagine that he'd be happy for people to have his level of insight into his music.

Isn't it!!! I think it's Bach's funniest fugue, with the countersubject filling in the hole in the subject, kind of like a nyah-nyah-nyah.
