Great interpretation! Thank you! I would ask: why in your opinion the fugue is better played with stacatto? More joyful perhaps?

Thank you! My Barenreiter urtext edition indicates it should be played staccato so I assumed that was correct and how it was notated in the manuscript (although Bach rarely puts in articulation or dynamic markings). However, I just verified that Bach did NOT specify staccato in the manuscript so I don't know why they wrote that in when it's supposed to be "urtext". I've played it less detached in the past and like it either way. TBH, this piece is a beast and it seemed to make it easier by getting off the notes quicker...so you are ready for the next, and next and next. Maybe changing it up a little helped too in preparation for this video. Thank you for your question!
