Huh. Strange. In the book Piano by Chris Coetzee the sheet music is really weird. The staves go 1, 3, 6, 13, 20, 27, 33. In detail for those like me who didn't/don't know what the numbers mean: The first stave is only two bars, second is three, third, forth, and fifth are seven, sixth is six, and the last stave is three wherein the last bar is only one whole note. Now all that is simply something I don't understand as a complete beginner who doesn't understand how this even works without a time signature. But what's really odd is that for four staves, 3-6, they're. All. Half note Chords. It looks nothing like the sheet music used for this. Is this a bad book or what?

This is called the "Schwencke measure." In my copy of The Well-Tempered Clavier (annoted by Orlando Morgan) there is a note about this which says: "Schwenke's manuscript contains the following bar [the one at 01:14] which, however, cannot be authenticated, as it does not appear in any of Bach's autographs, no is it contained in the second "Notenbüchlein" of Anna Magdalena (1725)."
