The Fantasia in c minor [BWV 537] is a lament.
The work opens with the lowest note of the organ. Above that, a theme develops that begins with a minor sixth, the most emotional interval. In this fantasia, it seems that Bach is mourning a loss.
There is deep emotion and then comes the fugue.
In Weimar J.S. Bach composed some of his greatest and most famous organ works, including the Toccata and Fugue in D minor [BWV 565], the Prelude and Fugue in E major [BWV 566 [and probably also this FANTASIA et FUGUE in C minor [BWV537].
It may also be that Bach composed this Fantasia and fugue in 1723 in Köthen.
