I came late in discovering this video, what incredible sound extracted from this vintage instrument! Marvelous performance by Marc Teicholz. Speaking as a concert goer and guitarist since 1969, few concert guitarists can match this!

What I have viewed here leaves me in awe. Teicholz is an inspiration to students and professionals alike, Bach is...well I think his music speaks for him, better than I do, a Hauser I, a truly beautiful instrument for the expression of anyone who plays it, and lastly I'm reminded of Segovia. The man who popularized Hauser's guitars as well as legitimized the guitar in the international music world partly due to his transcription of this piece. Thank you GSI. Thank you for sharing.

Great to hear someone play a Segovia transcription ( with a few minot changes )....iconic....played by someone who understands the music, and has obviously listened both to Segovia, and the violin version....... When someone says "Romantic" i just want to puke... This is just simply OUTSTANDING!!!!

Performed with eyes closes( except for tuning on the fly) Sometimes i hear a piece performed so well that I wand to give up practicing in frustration with my own mediocrity. This performance takes it a step further. Hearing and seeing this makes me want to practice for hours.

Superb performance, in spite of the need to grab the tuning gears occasionally. What a guitar! In addition, GSI has become the place to go for excellent classical guitars in this country. You perform a great service GSI, by providing a nice venue for these KZbin videos to be recorded!

Well personally I enjoyed this performance. I don't particularly CARE about the "Bach interpretation classes" or the general hatred for Segovia going around. Lest we forget, without Segovia, we wouldn't HAVE this piece in the guitar repertoire, because nobody ELSE thought to transcribe it. In fact, people in Segovia's time said it was "impossible" to play on the guitar. Well I guess he proved them WRONG, didn't he?
@MarcoAurelio19879 жыл бұрын
Damn right!
@snoop12046 жыл бұрын
But Segovia wasn't the first to transcribe it? Back in 1920 Antonio Sinopoli from Argentina had already arranged Chaconne in E minor.

Although composed before the modern guitar was developed, the "soul" of Bach's concept comes through beautifully with the help of a very accomplished guitarist. Bravo! I personally feel as much from this version as listening to it on the violin. A tribute to the GENIUS that was Bach. The music is Bach's. The guitar is Hauser I. I believe Johann would have approved.

As a violinist, I have to say I actually prefer this version (when performed like this, with this guitar) to the original! Partly because the broken chords and harmonies work so well on the guitar, and the sheer range of colours he produces bring out the variations beautifully, for example at 13:05 Although there is a wonderfully musical and interesting version which recently came out on the Netherlands Bach Society channel, on the violin, which provides an interesting contrast.

people always say this to me. but you have to play a hauser. its not only the sound. its the fact that you move your fingers and it plays. it is very nice if a guitar sounds good (and amplification and recording can do a lot for this with almost any guitar)...but the playability is what you spend your time with...and what makes the gestures in the music come to life. PLay one TheCommentsMaster and then comment again. You may be surprised.

it is indeed a wonderful interpretation and I 't mind the very Segovia like romantic feeling to it nor the use of rubato -specially with such technical perfection- yet some of the more "baroque compliant"rendering you can find on YT are equally enjoyable IMO and who cares about the way Bach would have played it on an instrument that was invented hudred years later ? he wrote the perfect music and everyone is free to play it his own way ...
@LuisGarzonGuitarist12 жыл бұрын
A lovely version of the Chaconne. This piece on guitar is played with great romanticism much the way Segovia might have played it. I don't think the Chaconne is done justice when it is played in the typewriter style that most Bach is played. Bach did not have a piano so the idea of bringing the passion to the music was impossible on a harpsichord much like a non touch sensitive keyboard. The Guitar is all about passion unlike the Lute that struggles with it. In my opinion it is wonderful.

Who composed that fantastic piece of music, and what is it called? Where can I get a score? I have been in love with guitars and guitar music for 70 years, that Houser instrument! I believe this the first time I have heard one. I heard him play a Torres just before this and the Houser seemed to blow it away. How I admire that young man. What an exciting video. What fantastic power a man like that has over the music lovers in this world. And, how great that one can record it like this.

Beautiful playing of an exquisite guitar! Frankly, I think the criticisms of some violation of meter and time are unwarranted. Too often the critics want to confine interpretations to a strict catechism that must not be violated. Music is a vital vibration in time that bridges our trivial world of the everyday to a transcendent sphere of beauty and truth made manifest in the hands of the musician. I understand orthodoxy as a pole of the dialog, but to disparage this brilliant playing is wrong and misguided.

@inthenameofgod199212 жыл бұрын
i think this guitar no need use a mick, because the projection of the sound is full for one room, and the sound is so deep and powerfull but still calm, good for renaissance, baroque and classic music periode, if you play romantic music i prefer to ramirez and antonio marin montero, and romanillos of course. By the way, i heard a guitar which name is Juan Hernandez from Valencia, good sound guitar, deeper sound, and worthed price to buy.
