Amazing performance and very good interpretation. It's very refreshing to see it performed in such setting, preserving the qualities of the original piece, while adding the extra layer of relevance to the modern culture. Truth to be told, I feel that a lot of classical music goes unnoticed by people nowadays, simply because they think it is irrelevant due the archaic aesthetics surrounding it. Unfortunately, the comment section here is a really sad place. I just want to say something to all the people who have a "certain problem" with this performance: Have you even listened to/read the lyrics? None of you "own" Bach's music to have anything to say about misusing it. None of you knew Bach personally to make guesses on what he would say, yet some of you have the audacity to tarnish his name with their takes which hold no relevance to the era he lived in. If anything, a person who lived 300 years ago would probably be utterly confused by any political discourse from this day. Hell, my great grandmother was already super confused when she was over 80 years old. We don't live in XVIII's century, none of the possible political views of J.S. Bach would hold any relevance today, regardless if he was a homophobe by today's western standards or not. NBS chose to interpret the piece in a way they saw as fitting the culture we live in. I find it fitting, it resonates with me. But it's their interpretation and they are free to make it. They didn't claim Bach would agree with their take. You are free to listen to other interpretations or even make your own, if a sight of two men touching each other's hands makes you soooo mad.

I think that all these comments, as sad as they are, might show what Bach had in mind as he wrote "der Neid hat viele Stricke auf unser Tun gericht'." 😉

I see that the text is considered to be by "unknown". You could hardly think the composer of Bach's Cantatas would ever be able to sign "Sola Dei Gloria", to this! Maybe N.B.S. does not have to record absolutely every piece from the notebooks. Glory to our Lord Jesus Christ, the author of righteousness! :--}>

Look, I dont disagree with homosexuality at all, but I don't feel like the decisions taken for this video fit the music at all or it's history at all. . Maybe for Bach, something more traditional fits better. The neon lights and the strong colours too are extremely out of place. Your videos always felt like a time capsule; where I can watch them and be taken on a journey to the 1700s. Where is the ornate Baroque ornamentation? Otherwise, I adore this channel. Let's not make this the new standard though.
