Bachelor of Vocation in Dialysis Technology (B.VoC DT) is a three year degree course offered by Shri Ram Medical College which prepares students to become trained dialysis technicians who provide strong paramedical support system to hospitals for providing specialized care to renal failure patients.
Dialysis technicians work closely with Nephrologists and play an important role in ameliorating the sufferings of such patients and help in improving the quality of their life. This is an ever-expanding field and there are a large number of patients in need of such a care in the country and in the world.
In the human body the kidney performs the role of blood purification. In case of kidney failure or damage due to any disease, the artificial mechanism has to be adopted to purify blood. Dialysis is basically the artificial purification or removal of the waste and unwanted fluid from the blood which are harmful to the human body.
Dialysis is performed through a hemodialysis machine. Patients who suffer with kidney issues need dialysis on regular intervals till the damaged kidney gets replaced. Dialysis technologists monitor the medical devices and equipment involved in the process.
Eligibility criteria for the (B.VoC DT):-
• The applicant must have graduated from a secondary school (10+2) with a Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and/or Mathematics-focused curriculum from a recognized board.
• The applicants must have a minimum score of 50% on the 12th board examination.
• A candidate's age at application time must be between 16 and 28.
