Ok so just to clarify, I Googled this. Chase did an interview about it with People magazine. First of all, he said they spent one night together, they didn't date. Second, he said he was asked to perform on the show to promote his music and he obviously wanted to (it's one of the most popular shows on TV, huge audience). He notified his manager and agent of the fact that a girl he'd been with would be on the show also but they assured him that it was still a good opportunity and said to take it, as they were all sure that the producers would never make it into a thing, because why would they want to upset their musical guest? He was and "still is" shocked that they played it out this way and inserted him into drama, which he never wanted. He said he's "really pissed" at the show for putting him in that situation. Basically it was incredibly awkward and was a cruel thing for them to do to him and to her. Brutal!!
