Love the double Fairlie, the attention to detail that bachmann put into it is amazing and it's a better runner then I thought, it certainly makes me want to give 009 a go one day 😀

I absolutely love the double fairlie. It's one of the most expensive models I've bought but it's so nice and runs fantastic. I don't know if you heard, but Bachmann USA announced the other week that they're going to start producing models of Talyllyn! I think it would be awesome if you decide to pick one of those up. No price or release date yet, but the concept art looks great
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 жыл бұрын
Yeah they're definitely expensive but the price is justified I think if you model 009. I did see the news about Bachmann producing Talyllyn - I'm very much looking forward to it and it'll be interesting to compare to the existing Skarloey models too. Thanks for watching 😃
@CecilValeProductions2 жыл бұрын
In my end across the pond (the states itself) it looks like Talyllyn is gonna be 179.99 USD, I've gone and pre-ordered all 3 from Trainworld in Brooklyn, NY (they ship internationally btw and payment isn't due till the item is available in their shop), and I can't wait as I'm eventually gonna make a dual gauged layout combining Tywyn Wharf, Blaenau Ffestiniog, Abyerystwyth, and Pehnryn Port, so I'm also looking forward to the Quarry Hunslets.

That is a fine looking loco, indeed. All the lining, plates, and detailing seem just right. Also seems to run very well. Even the cost, well that's about what we can expect to pay today for this level of detail and quality. What's more, it looks great on the layout!

I just ordered one, from kernow, and much to my surprise, I got it cheaper despite living in Australia, because I don’t have to pay VAT, which knocked 30 quid from the price… was not expecting that. In Australian money, that’s at least about 100 dollars cheaper than buying one here, and that’s a minimum. They can get waaaay more pricey here

Bachmann certainly have done a good job with these. They look really nice. Though, presently 009 isn't something I'm invested in. Maybe if they or another manufacturer were to produce locomotives from the Ravenglass/Eskdale railway I'd be more inclined to take the plunge (or at least buy a loco). Cheers
@ThatModelRailwayGuy2 жыл бұрын
I've often thought there's a good market for doing a range based on the Ravenglass & Eskdale locos and the RH&DR railway too. Presumably they would be too small and delicate to model in the same scale as 00 like 009 does, which is perhaps why none of the major manufactures have had a go... yet. Thanks for watching 😃

@ThatModelRailwayGuy Жыл бұрын
It's hard to say for certain but the main circuit is just under R1 and the tight siding curve is about half that so I'd say probably around 4.5" at it's tightest point. That said I wouldn't recommend running it through curves like this regularly, but it's ok once in a while to pick up wagons. Thanks for watching 😃

@ThatModelRailwayGuy3 ай бұрын
Don't forget 009 in particular is a niche scale and as a result comes at a premium, especially for an intricate and complex model like the Double Fairlie. This one was also sold at full RRP because it was a Collectors Club special available direct from Bachmann... but I've also bought Double Farlies for considerably less. I got one on sale for just under £150 a while back. Railroad isn't really a realistic option for 009 since Hornby's Railroad range relies on reusing it's older back catalog. Very few companies have a similar back catalog, and none in 009. It's also important to note that Hornby have not arbitrarily raised prices, that's just what it costs to produce models these days, especially with increase of workers wages in China. For low cost 009 models I would check out the Kato motor chassis. These are fairly low cost and lots of people make 3D printed bodies to fit on top of them - there's a huge variety out there. Thanks for watching 👍

@@ThatModelRailwayGuy Yeah, I just wish that there was a cheaper way to get 040 chassis with piston rods. They all cost 50 pounds. I think n guage and 009 scale will become more cheap because it takes up less space. Thanks for the tip
