Pricing is outlandish. Just on pricing I see Hornby prices have all gone up. It seems as always there is no law against making a profit. Sounds like a stack of 'Thomas Tax' going on there.

The Bachmann prices appear to be designed to be discounted - but that relies on having enough stockists so that actually happens. I don't see AU sellers selling below RRP :S

Those vans are pretty cool. But 56 Austailen dollers? Also I do agree that the non Thomas ones are more detailed and better then the Thomas ones. I think the ice cream van is from the HIT era but I'm not sure. Amazing review! Hope you have a great day!

Interestingly, these wagons are actually based on model series wagons. They are based on the LNER 12 ton vans that were made for the show in Series 7, which have smaller vents in comparison to their CGI counterparts. I guess Bachmann still go off older reference sheets for some of their rolling stock designs.

The n scale bachmann Thomas stuff interests me so much, however here in NZ there's some copyright issue where they can't sell the bachmann Thomas range, leaving the only option real option for myself is eBay. And there ain't no way I'm spending nearly $300 for just a Thomas or Percy, sad times.

just want to throw in my 2 pence on the subject of costs, i refuse to go all in on the rolling stock for the thomas range, like yes i'll pick up toad and a few tankers, but if i want 7-planks and vans i'm sticking with farish or peco, even coaches i'd go for them as farish has done maunsells before, and i managed to pick 3 up for £30 (tenner a go) where the official ones i feel i'd be lucky if tootally or local shops sold a bundle of 2 for anywhere near that, but then again i know i can get them cheaper because of living in the UK where its mainly sold, unfortunatly unless there are people willing to import elsewhere, most people will be stuck to the official stock, especially in the US, and after import fees it'll likely 9/10 be more costly than just buying the thomas branded stock, even for british modellers in the US i believe this whole thing is called "the thomas tax" jovially, but it deffo is a thing, but its a similar thing in OO, you buy the mostly thomas specific wagons but then go with all the other rolling stock brands for extra trucks and coaches, especially as you can buy the crisper original mainline toolings for like £5 compared to like £30+ for a cattle wagon with a face

Sorry if i'm a bit too watch this review. I understand where you're coming from, in terms of prices and variety in ventilated vans. Back in June-July, i purchased the 009 scale Narrow Gauge Brake Vans (Red and Blue) and they worth adding for which engine gets to pull a red/blue boxcars and brakevans, although the blue boxcars were only in the RWS. N Scale needs a lot more rolling stock variety, like the HOn3 range ;)

The back of the boxes have changed, and the bubnle around the "n scale thomas and friends" is more detailed, otherwise these are awesome and I'm definitely gonna get them all

@@cdyvids22 the boxes are pretty large - James still had space so I reckon he'll fit ok
