Bachmann NEM BSI Couplings: Coupling a 150 and a 158?

I would be surprised if they made these in different lengths or heights in future -- I think they are more likely to fix the pocket position on new runs of existing models with incorrect pocket placement.

I've just bought a few packs of these to fit to my fleet of DMUs, so this is very useful, especially the bit about the original 150s having couplers that protrude further at the motor bogie ends!

Unfortunately I can only feature units I own. I don't have a Lima 156 or a Hornby 142. I could possibly borrow a Hornby 153 to try, although I suspect it wouldn't be all that different from the Bachmann 150. I do have the Hornby 466 shown in the video, but that would require a complete front end rebuild as it's never been designed to have a working coupler on the nose. I would honestly probably be better served starting with the complete 158 coupler including close-coupling mechanism (which you can buy as a spare from Bachmann) should I want to retro-fit that unit with a working front coupler. Fixing that unit is a longer process though -- it needs a lot more than a front coupler!

Interesting, I was a Driver on the Western Region and you could couple them mechanicaly but weren't electrically compatible. You could couple 143s to 150s and 153/155s to 158s, again you can't couple 165/166 to 158s.
