Good Day Derek, happened upon your tube back a couple weeks and have caught up on all your vids! Sorry to hear you've been so sick, no fun when you're one who likes to stay active! Been using an old but very reliable horizontal 20 ton for the past many years and mainly due to your posts, decided to purchase this unit. I'm 2 weeks into the order and hope it comes sooner than later. Went with the Honda and no other upgrades, plan set it next to a 4' x 8' table I made and load with my loader bucket and pull the rounds over with a pickaroon. Then push the splits over into the loader bucket and transport to the stacking area. Will definitely do something like you did for hands free! Feel Better, look forward to your next vid, Rick

@MrRickvs Thanks Rick! Splitfire is currently working on a hands free option for this machine. They messaged me a bit ago saying that I beat them to it, but it's in the works. Cheers!
@MrRickvsАй бұрын
@@dereksstuff8395 Need to see what they come up with, not sure if I like foot or leg as you created, needs to be safe and not triggered easily if one bumps into it,
@dereksstuff8395Ай бұрын
@MrRickvs The way I've designed mine, it requires a bit of a "purposeful" push. I haven't bumped it yet, having put several cord through it now. Their design will be more subtle I'm sure, they have messaged me personally about their option.... it's on its way

Hi, that’s a great splitter. I have several commercial vertical splitters and I’m positive this 1165 v will work well in a commercial setting. A few of my friends have ordered these splitters… one guy is going to use it for his small wood business and the others for personal use I have two of the old 1165’s but definitely would have bought this instead . Thanks for the video

For a solo firewood operation, a commercial vertical splitter is the way to go. So many advantages.

@@bwillan This could be used commercially?? By definition.... yes, yes it could

Ive seen videos of guys building a 30in high platform and putting a regular splitter on it setup vertically to achieve a similar setup for much less.

The cycle time on those box store horizontal splitters is very slow. This Split Fire vertical splitter has a cycle time around 4 seconds.
@dougadams9419Ай бұрын
I have the 20 Ton Huskee from TSC and it does the job for me, horizontal or vertical. Portable and trailer hitch. One complaint. It needs a hydraulic oil cooler. The hose and cylinders get too hot to touch.
@dereksstuff8395Ай бұрын
That's a huge complaint with those... I've been down that road

I hope you get to feeling better. I had chemical pneumonia last April and it was no fun. As far as the splitter goes, I've asked myself the same question. We have a lot of black gum and sweet gum tress here and I'm a little hesitant because they are so hard to split, even when they are green. they are extremely difficult to split when dry. I got to admit I love the way you set yours up with the leg lever. hands free is nice. I really enjoy your videos but your health is more important. take care of yourself
@dereksstuff8395Ай бұрын
THANKS Ben! I love it. I've never split gum, but this thing handles dry beech OK. Of course it's not the same, but that.... yellow birch and elm are all I've got here to compare. STRINGY STUFF
